Description:

I was inspired by some mail that I got today to host my very first swap!

There are so many neat postage stamps that come from all over the world. We all receive packages from different countries, and how neat would it be to swap some of the used stamps that help deliver our mail to us!

For this swap, you will send 1 partner 5 used postage stamps. NO DUPLICATES - they all must be different stamps. You can send extras if you choose.

This swap is international because it will be inexpensive to mail and that way we can receive stamps from all around the world!

Newbies are welcome with a completed profile. No recent unexplained 1s.

I'm leaving the sign ups open for a few weeks to allow people time to gather their stamps. You will have 1 week from the time that sign ups end to mail your stamps to your partner.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

I am in, I have it on my watchlist until it gets closer to the signup deadline!

Fenix825 07/20/2009 #

Sounds great Lisa! The only reason for the long sign up is to give people time to actually collect up some stamps.

chincho 07/21/2009 #

Only five????? I hope that the envelope will be send with "real" stamps at least. I watch it.

Fenix825 07/21/2009 #

@chincho I decided to do just 5 used stamps to start with since this is my first swap and it's open to newbies.

This will allow some new people who haven't received very many packages to be able to collect 5 different stamps that way.

Hopefully everyone will like this swap and I can do another one with even more stamps!

twobluecrows 07/21/2009 #

I like that it's five stamps--some o the other stamp swaps ask for 30 or more! I don't have that many different ones, since I use them in my art, too. Also, since they don't weigh much, I can easily stick in a few extras, too!

HeideC 07/21/2009 #

Should they be soaked off the envelope or just cut out neatly?

Fenix825 07/22/2009 #

@twobluecrows Thanks for the positive comment! I decided to keep it small because I know I personally don't have a huge stamp collection yet. It's a nice way for some people to get started.

@HeideC that choice is up to you. I have personally cut mine out neatly for the ones I'll be sending. Then if someone chooses to soak them off from there, they can.

Tatsu 07/27/2009 #

on my watchlist!

megalynn 07/31/2009 #

I'll be joining this swap! I try to keep all of the stamps from my postage so I'm sure I have duplicates that I'd be more than happy to send off. Great swap idea and I think 5 stamps is a decent amount. :)

Fenix825 08/ 1/2009 #

Thanks @megalynn I wanted to keep it at a small amount for people like me who haven't had a chance to collect a lot of stamps yet. Now that I've started, it's become an addiction!

I look forward to you joining us @Tatsu

BDooBs 08/ 4/2009 #

I'm looking forward to this swap! New here, but have been collecting stamps for a bit, not that I have a huge collection. So it'll be nice to see what other people have too! I can only imagine the neat places out there in stamp form we're about to get our hands on!

chocololic 08/10/2009 #

does this happen to anyone else...I buy the cool stamps at the P.O., and I save one set for myself, unless I get them in the mail...so I've received 2 simpsons stamps so far, but then I keep getting the same ones (bart and marge)! ahh!

twobluecrows 08/16/2009 #

I cut or tear them off the envelopes, especially if the postmark looks interesting, too--as I use them in my collages and such--so don't worry about being neat for me!

Fenix825 08/17/2009 #

@BDooBs I'm so excited that you'll be joining us for the swap! I can't wait to see some new stamps as well!

@turtlegirl11 I always seem to get Forever stamps -- I think most of us in the USA are caught up with the rising stamp costs!

@twobluecrows I agree about the postmarks that can be interesting. I saw one from China that was all in Chinese and it was so neat!

Fenix825 08/17/2009 #

YAY! I'm so excited! My first ever swap has made the top 10! I look forward to swapping with all of you and seeing the fun stamps that everyone has!

I will probably host another one of these with more partners or more stamps to send. I just wanted to start small for those of us without a huge collection!

sweetest0sin 08/19/2009 #

oops , my partner will be happy , shes got 10 stamps ( all different)

Fenix825 08/19/2009 #

@sweetest0sin I'm sure your partner will love them! Thanks so much for participating!

angelstar 08/20/2009 #

Mine is all ready to send. I'll probably use a Forever stamp, or a $1 stamp for international, on the envelope since they are what I have and since I am enclosing so many cool stamps.

I'm sending MANY more than 5 !

TexyDeb 08/21/2009 #

My collection is small because I keep sharing, this will be a way to get some for myself for a change! lol I pfefer mine to be cut and not soaked or peeled off, thank you. I will send 10 too, mostly from Greece.

Fenix825 08/21/2009 #

@angelstar That's so exciting to hear that your package is all ready to go! I'm sure your partner will love them!

@TexyDeb I know what you mean about the collection being small -- I was lucky to have some great RAKers send me some so I am building a nice collection. I can't wait to send some out!

Thanks to everyone who is participating!

MarioGV 08/24/2009 #

I'll send as much as possible :) Today I've received from France an envelope with many stamps, and I've some duplicates of different countries I want to get rid of :)

Because I've many duplicated stamps, I created a swap of 20 used stamps :)

ginating 08/24/2009 #

Hi guys, I thought that this was such a great idea that I started another, but mine has a twist...come check it out!

Hello everyone!

The partners have been assigned for this swap! I hope you all enjoy getting your used stamps! I will definitely host this again, with either more partners or more stamps to be shared!

:hugs: Christina

I sent mine a couple of days ago. Cool....

SueJohnson 09/ 5/2009 #

Hi, I am new to swap-bot and saw this postage stamps swap. I think I am too late to sign up but if anyone wants to swap, I have used USA stamps, lots, can swap just five or up to 50, no duplicates. If allowed, here is my email to contact me, and I can send first: [email protected]
