Description:

These little dolls are so cute and just seem to be showing up everywhere. They first showed up on Swap-bot back in April when @Mojo ran a swap to make them. The interest in them has grown lately

This swap is to make and send one string doll of your creation to your partner. This is sender's choice, if you wish to tailor it to your partner's profile you may do so, but it is not required.

The concept of making string dolls is easy enough to understand, though it does take a little practice. The body and head are made from one continuous piece of 100% cotton string. I would suggest using 4-ply worsted kitchen cotton or similar cotton. I tried using the smaller crochet thread and mercerized cotton and found them difficult to work with. Please do not use acrylic yarn. Add clothes, accessories, etc as needed. Make sure you leave a hanger on it (you will find this in the instructions)

Here are the basic instructions

string doll 2

Here are some more detailed instructions

I found the detailed instructions on the web and saved them to my computer, but I do not know the source any longer, so I have put them in a web album so that everyone can use them.

Rules and Stuff

Everyone must have: ...a completed profile
...at least a 4.7 rating
...No recent no-sends or questionable swapper activity If there is something on your profile that needs explaining, please send me a message doing so.

Newbies must also have:
...completed 5 swaps with ratings, e-mail swaps and list swaps do not count towards the 5 swaps, they must be regular mail swaps.

If I need to remove anybody from the swap, I will be doing so after sign-up has finished, but before I assign partners and will be very thoroughly checking profiles at this time.

If you don't plan on sending, don't join!

Lastly, get creative and have fun !

I'm going to have to bump this to my watchlist. I have some medical issues going on so I've got to make sure I'll be around when this swap is going...I was really looking forward to this one!! ;(

How tall are they? The one I made is about 3 inches. I'm not sure I could get it much smaller. I used sport weight cotton yarn.

Mine was around 3 inches and so was the one that I received.

I'm gonna have to wait for a third batch on this one. It was HARD and I'm gonna want to take just as much time making this one as I did the last one haha. Hope it comes around again :-)

waves to driftwood Say hi to the little guy for me ;-)
