Description:

love to swap, but have to watch the budget. So, I thought it would be fun to create some swaps that don't cost much to create or send.

For this swap you will send 2 ATCs (made entirely from recycled materials - i.e. junk mail, brochures, menus, old book pages, etc., etc.) to each of your 2 artners. So, that's 4 ATCs total.

In keeping with the low-cost theme, this is a US only swap. (If there is great interest, I might create a similar International swap - or someone else could do the same).

Because these are pretty easy swaps to accomplish, I'm opening them up to all swappers with 4.5 or higher rating and Newbies are welcome.

As always, I reserve the right to ban any questionable swappers.

I love this theme! I have just almost finished unpacking my craft supplies from my latest cross country move, and would love to start using up the "treasure" I have collected in the past couple of years. Thanks for hosting! I can't wait to get started.

Now, you didn't say we could use our own old material did you? I understand it has to come from someone else. Or can we use anything that we have of our own? Thanks.

I love the idea of using what we already have to create something new, and keeping low-cost is a nice bonus, too.

:)

Do paper/fabric scraps from previous projects count as recycled? What about stamped images from forever ago that I never used and they are sittling around collecting dust? I save everything!!! I want to make homemade paper someday.

thredz 08/26/2009 #

Dear mgarrt,

I want to make paper, too! 'Cept my husband keeps throwing my dryer lint away, but I shall overcome some day. I am taking this swap at its title: use anything you have that you don't have to go out and buy...banana peels, dryer sheets, paper scraps, magazines, stamps, punches, pics...anything that won't rot in the mail! Game on!

Whoo hoo! All done and ready to mail!

I am worried b/c these will be my first ATC's... some encouragement for me? Or should I do a different one first, I just don't want anyone to be disappointed.

thredz 08/31/2009 #

snailmail! Please do not think that anyone will be disappointed with an original work of art! You'll find that once you start making your first ATC that the ideas will flow and the only problem then will be stopping and moving on to the next one. One thing that really helps me get a handle on the process is to wait 'til the partners are assigned, then read their profiles for hints of what their interests are to incorporate into your design...NO ONE can be unhappy with a card that represents something they enjoy. I hope I get you for a partner, we're gonna have some fun!

I had the absolute BEST time doing this...everything I used was recycled - including the notecard and the envelope I am mailing them in. I really, really had to think outside the box since I couldn't use paint, marker, pencil, etc....I wanted them to be completely recycled...So much fun!

And @snailmailover - I 100% agree with @thredz - you will do fine - I find another thing that helps is to know the specifications on ATCs so they meet the requirements [size, sturdiness] and follow what the host has requested! I also would love to have you as a partner - I love any and all atcs. Especially first tries [oh, I remember MINE....:)] PM me if you need any help or pics to look at for ideas, etc!

I hope the host is okay - she hasn't been on in 3 days? :)

thredz 09/ 2/2009 #

Well, I hope she is okay, but I have to drop. I emailed her yesterday and she hasn't even read it. I have to go out of town tomorrow and was really hoping to get the cards in the mail on the way out--hard to do when you don't know the addresses!
I am sure we will meet again: snail-don't give up the good fight! squint-great idea, sincerely wish all is well.
