Description:

July 20, 2011 i apologize to all as to how this RR swap turned out. Most of us never got our journals back, myself included. We all spent way to much on postage with nothing to show for it. I am so disappointed and at a loss for words on the subject other than to say its now time to move on. It was a learning experience as disappointing as it turned out I wish you all happy swapping in the future and remember to rate your swap partners fairly.

Hugs bye,

Tess Calhoun

Small Themed Art Journal Round Robin This is as usual a long term commitment for a traveling Journal circle. Please be aware that this is not only a long term commitment of time, a year or more but also a commitment to mailing costs. Make sure you can afford the time to work on it and afford the postage.

This RR will start on Sept. 15th with a new sketch book approximately 5X8 inches in size. This size fits easily in a #2 padded mailing envelope. I have found that DickBlick on line is a wonderful place to find Sketch pad / books that will take all media at a reasonable price. This one is my favorite. It is of heavy duty paper for all media, inexpensive and has 100 pages. http://www.dickblick.com/products/canson-heavyweight-sketch-pad. I may never buy one locally ever again.

If you cant get this sketch pad or something similar get as close to it as possible and let me know and we will work out how to make it work. If the problem is the number of pages its just work it out so everyone gets the same number of pages to work on in your journal. Make a note of it on the front cover so everyone will know. If the number is slightly different from the others it shouldn't be much of a problem.

This journal will have a theme of your choosing. Keep in mind we will all be working in this theme for you regardless of our style or skill level. Once you have picked the theme for your Journal write about it on the inside cover and describe what you would like to see in your journal. Also list any limitations.

Theme Example: The theme of my journal is "Rose" Include anything" rose" including but not limited to using one or more of the fallowing: The color rose, the flower rose, a girl named rose, a thing named rose should be in each of the 4 double page spreads some place. It does not have to be the only thing in each spread or very large but some place in it. The only limitation is don't use a wet wash or water colors in my journal as the paper can't handle it.
Work in your journal in the theme you picked creating 4 double page spreads. Include comments on the pages as to where, when time of day media how it worked etc... They may be brief or as long as you like. Then send on to the next person on the list, (in the circle). The next person adds 4 more double pages in the theme you listed on the inside front cover with comments and signs the pages On the back cover everyone will sign their name with their address. This repeats along the list until everyone has added to your journal and its then returned to you.

This will take approximately a year. The first mailing will be Oct.1st and be the 1st of Dec, Feb, April, June, Aug, then back on about Oct 15th 2010 I have given you lots of time between mailings so there shouldn't be a problem with fitting it into busy lives.

Once 6 people have signed up for the swap it will be closed. If more than 6 want to do this I will start another circle. Remember sign up for this if you have the time, money and its something you really want to do. No one wants to loose a journal or have an incomplete one. The journals will be themed but Styles and skill levels are all open. Remember this is going to be fun and if you have questions or other thoughts on this PM me. Ok now lets get creative.

The Swap-bot business part. Ignore the partners assigned stuff I will tell you how the circle will flow. I will check everyones profile and make sure we all have good ratings. I will start a thread in Forums for this swap so we can keep in contact with each other. Also you can PM me any time for any reason.

I didn't want to host this because of lack of time, but now I've seen it I want to join, it sounds great. Well done Tess

Jox 08/22/2009 #

just thinking the journal will only need a max of 5 pages for each person, so we could get one with 50 pages, that would give a few pages spare to be one the safe side.

carol 08/22/2009 #

Won't we need 8 pages each? 4 double page spreads would be 8 sides. I guess that's still just 50 pages total, though!

LiveTheChaos 08/23/2009 #

@carol five pages x two sides per page = 10 pages (sides) per person.

8 pages each x two sides per page = 16 pages (sides) per person.

I think I will sign up for this one. I'm still not done with my other journal yet, but I think I'm going to take this project on as well!

Godsrockangel 08/24/2009 #

I'm sorry I've had to withdraw this time :(

Money needs to be put towards a house :D

tesscalhoun 08/26/2009 #

50 pages would do but the sketch book I have suggested is 100 pages and reasonably priced. If you want to use the smaller book its ok as I think it will have enough pages. Remember only 6 will be signing up for this RR.

tesscalhoun 08/28/2009 #

For anyone having a hard time finding the sketch book I suggested using Please get what ever you like thats similar. The size is not set in stone. This is supposed to be a fun activity not work. Lets all relax and go with the flow and be flexible. Hugs :)

LiveTheChaos 08/30/2009 #

Hi! Just sent off two journals today, including the RR# 2 and would love to join this group to deal with my journal abstinence. I promise I am not a flaker even if I took a long break from swap-bot. I had to lie low on swaps due to a death in the family. But now I am raring to go! :) E

Hi All,

I pressed sent on this swap, as I did send off my journa on time. I was waiting on it to come back, so I could rate some more of the participants however there is no sign off it. When it turns up I will rate those that I haven't been able too.
