 swap description edited on 12/5/09
requiring all participants to have a
 well-filled out profile.

I was thinking today how it is so easy to focus on the negative and complain about what is not right.

Sooooo, I would like to put things into the proper focus and concentrate on what is going right in life.

This swap requires a 1 week commitment to writing something that you are grateful for each day, AND a willingness to send 6 postcards to your partner, 1 for each day of the week.

Here's the breakdown:

  1. Starting on Sunday, January 10, 2010, write what you are grateful for then post it the next day (or maybe the same day if you can figure out what you're grateful for at the start of the day).

  2. Send one GRATITUDE postcard for each day of the week (except Sunday, of course) for a total of 6 postcards to your partner, through Saturday, January 16, 2010.

  3. Postcards are sender's choice, and they should be different each day.

  4. Mark sent AFTER you have sent all 6 of the postcards (i.e. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, which is the swap deadline.)

  5. Rate your partner AFTER you have received all 6 postcards from them. (edited on 10 Jan 10)

Participants MUST have a rating higher than 4.8 and NO no-sends within 6 months of the swap.

ALL participants MUST have a well filled out profile complete with any likes or dislikes and favorite things. (edited 12/5/09)

Questionable swappers will be banned.

Sorry, this one is USA and Canada only. If there is interest, I'll start an international one, just let me know!

I like seeing such positive swaps! Great idea. It's on my watch list and I'll be joining closer to date. :-) GT

can you send all the postcards together in one envelope? or do they have to each be mailed seperately?

onlyincambodia 11/19/2009 #

@JennyTheArtist check with your partner to see if that would be OK. Otherwise, the postcards are intended to be mailed separately.

I would really like to join this swap but next week is super busy for me with my upcoming postcard show. I'd be interested in participating in a similar swap in the future!!

@Ilovepostcards I'd be more than happy to host this swap a 2nd time! Let's see how this one goes first! So after January, I might consider hosting a #2.

Thanks for the request!

A second round would be great!! I'm picking out some good postcards for this week.......

Crazipurplelady 01/10/2010 #

do we post that we sent it on the first day, or when all 6 are sent?

onlyincambodia 01/10/2010 #

Very good question, @crazypurplelady !

You should ONLY mark SENT when ALL of the postcards have been sent.

I know it is the swap requirement, but I do feel a bit guilty for not clicking on that I have sent my first PC. It is ok, though. :)

onlyincambodia 01/12/2010 #

Ahhhh...but sending out the 1st postcard is not really completing the swap : ) which is why it's important to click SENT when ALL cards have been sent : )

I'm looking forward to feedback once the postcards have been sent and received. There have been a few requests to offer this swap in the future, and I'd like to know what works and what doesn't.

This has been fun. I've sent out 3 postcards so far (sent on Mon., Tues. & Wed.) and got my 4th postcard ready to mail today. I'm looking forward to seeing postcards coming in to my mailbox soon for this swap! Maybe I'll get the 1st one today (Thursday). I must have an international partner. :)

This has been a great swap. So far I've received too fabulous postcards. During the day, I think about things to write on my postcards and when something sparks my gratitude light - it's an ah ha moment - and refreshes me throughout the day. Thanks for the sway. Happy thoughts.

Wonderful! If there are any suggestions for how to make this swap even better, please send me a private message! I'd love to get some useful feedback.

I loved doing this swap and would love to do another one. However, there is probably some clarification needed in the requirements. The beginning of the requirements indicate that we are to (1) "Start(ing) on Sunday, January 10", write what we're thankful for and then "post it the next day" (which I take as meaning to mail it on Monday). (2) "Send...through Saturday, January 16". So technically, a postcard written on Sunday would be the first postcard of the week, right? Even though it won't be mailed until Monday. Then if you continue through to the next Saturday writing a postcard of what you're thankful for, you'd really end up with 7 postcards. Perhaps I misunderstood the swap, so I thought I'd suggest clarification. I sent 7 postcards total, while I received only 6 (my partner having started with a postcard on Monday). So we both understood the swap differently. For me, I started with a postcard on Sunday, wrote what I was grateful for that day, and mailed it on Monday. On Monday I wrote on another postcard for what I was grateful for that day, and that one was mailed on Tuesday. On throughout the week ending with Saturday's postcard being written but mailed on the following Monday when the post office was open. Again, I really did enjoy doing this swap. My only disappointment with the swap was that I only got postcards three days out of the whole swap instead of 1 each day for 6 days. I got 3 postcards on Friday, Jan. 15, 2 on Jan. 16 and the final one (written Sat. Jan. 16th) I received today which is Friday, Jan. 22! Very poor delivery on the post office's end. :-( However, I wouldn't mind a swap like this again, and hope you'll do another one.
