Description:

This a swap to make a quilt square in a "Magickal" theme.

The finished square is a 12 inch block. Any medium, any pattern, as long as it's cloth. This is sender's choice.

You can use any pattern, any block design as long as you can explain why it is "magick" to you. Maybe it's magickal b/c it was the quilt on your bed as a child, the first quilt block you ever made, or it's a pattern from the Initiate's Quilt.

It can be any format as well: Crazy Quilt, Art Quilt, Applique...whatever you'd like as long as the finished dimension is 12 inch block.

This will be for an "unfinished block"....do not finish it out with batting or backing b/c it will be added to a larger quilt...so, you will be making one quilt block top. :-)

If this is well received, we will have 8 more swaps in different themes, so at the end we can put them all together & have an amazing Nine Square quilt with a different block, each made by a different person! How Magickal would that be!!!!!

For some ideas: quilt patterns

patterns that are mostly 12" square blocks

This is a wonderful opportunity to try a new block that you have wanted to do or maybe this is the impetus you needed to even try to make a quilt square.

So, to recap:

  • One 12" quilt block top

  • Do not finish out with batting or backing

  • Any pattern, format

  • Theme is: Magick

  • If we have more than 5 people join, I will continue this on with other themes until we have enough blocks to make a Nine Square nine square

  • And no flaking or you will be bounced from CW & reported

  • Have fun!

  • This is Sender's Choice, so start designing, making, collecting as soon as you sign up!

This sounds like a super swap! Just perfect for getting those winter creativity fires going! Count me in...and I hope we can indeed do as many blocks as possible.

Even if we don't get all the "required" people together I may do it with any interested parties that I have swapped with before...like you :-).....in the forums.

I'd totally be willing to do private swaps with y'all, too!

WooHoo. We've gotten our 5+. If these people stay until signups and/or we have new people join, then I will put up the next theme. What themes would you like to see? Or do we wnat every block be sender's choice? Weigh in with your thoughts, please.

I would like to do senders choice because I have 12 blocks made that I didn't finish the quilt for and I think I can add stuff to them to make them magick.

Maybe along with Sender's choice for the theme, we can have receiver's preferences for colors? Maybe list three or four or a couple of combinations to pick from?

Though it's a generally nice color, I really don't need any more orange blocks!

@twobluecrows - Good suggestion. I will make the next one sender's choice, receiver's color request.:-)

@marata - that's a great idea. Thanks!
