Description:

This is a swap to create food out of felt or other fabric. There are a LOT of ideas, patterns and tutorials on the web just Google "Felt Food" and you will see a lot of great ideas. Your food doesn't have to be made of felt however, cotton fabric works well also.

EDITED:

Okay, I was too ambitious for my first swap and no one besides me wants to have SIX partners!! :-) SO, how about two partners, and we make the focus of this swap "DINNER" so you can make anything that is suitable for dinner. I hope to do more of these if enough people want to and we can do breakfast, lunch and dessert too, that way you can get a good collection.

I want to create something like a little picnic basket and then add all the food I get and what I make and give it to a special little girl to play with in her play kitchen.

This is my first swap to create so I will work hard to make it a great one. You must be an experienced swapper with a GOOD record to participate and I will have an experienced swap hostess help me check out participants profiles.

I made the swap deadline and send dates in January so we can all finish up our Christmas sewing projects before jumping into this one!

Come join us and create some fat-free food!

This is just a suggestion, from a crafter who has made her share of faux foods and participated in a lot of tea parties over the years......

Perhaps a theme would help - like 'picnic food' or 'breakfast food'? I suppose it's difficult to estimate how many people might be involved, but if you will get a set with only six pieces in it, they could be fairly broadly disparate and not very 'playable' with. (Sort of the opposite of all broccoli, hah!)

Just my two cents' worth of opinion - but children tend to enjoy free-play toys that have some structure and give a hint of a potential story line.

So for example, if you have six 'breakfast' items, you could have toast, pancakes, fried eggs, bacon strips, a tomato, and a piece of fruit - or swap any of those out for a fun little cereal bowl, croissant, yoghurt, sausages.... lots of choice, but clearly giving the child a theme.

Since pizza's been signed up for, why not go for 'Italian Restaurant' or 'Picnic Goodies'? Spaghetti with meatballs, garlic bread, stacked lasagna, mmmmm! Or for the second, fried chicken, sandwiches, deviled eggs (how cute would those be in fabric!) and a bottle of lemonade.....

Either would look fabulous presented in a wicker basket lined with a square of red-n-white checkered cloth and a couple of toy utensils....

That's a great idea! breakfast would be easy...doughnuts would even go in that theme. I like the picnic idea too. I can easily change and make the pizza later. Let's see if other potential participants have ideas or preferences. Thanks for the input!

Hi! I am excited about this swap. I have a little girl who adores playing with faux food. She sometimes persuades her older brother to play with her but he'll never admit to enjoying that (he does, though.)

I think a theme would be great. If you go with a breakfast theme, I'd like to sign up for sunny side up eggs.

If it's free form, though, I'd make some kind of sushi.

Six partners is way too many for me, but when you have one for one partner that would be very fun.

Keep watching! I think we will need to amend it to be less partners!

now I think 6 partners would have been good because of the variety you would receive but it doesn't matter because this is only available to US :( ( this was meant in a oh woah is me kind of way:) )
