Description:

I have so many leftover coupons at the end of my shopping trip that it just seems wasteful! I am looking for about 10 people to swap what I don't use with. I don't want to put any limits on the types of coupons to send or expiration dates (as long as they will still be valid upon arrival). Please only send coupons that are valid in the United States. This is just a quick and easy way to get a batch of coupons that are hopefully (and probably) at least worth the postage to send your batch out.

The rules are simple: Fill one envelope with a batch of valid coupons and mail to your partners; let's say at least 30. We will have two partners each in order to get a variety. The coupons should either be cut out completely or still in neat little packages (inserts with some cutouts). Please do not send a scraggly mess of paper waste.

I've put a requirement of at least 30 coupons. I will probably be able to send out about 100 since I don't use a lot of what I get and because I have many different sources for getting them. There are no limits like "no pet, baby, or restaurant coupons". In my mind, if I get four fifty-cent coupons I can use it will be worth sending all of my useless ones out. Fair is more of a matter of how many coupons everyone can actually use and that's where the chance is to this swap. Let me know if you think of any other limits that should be set or clarifications to be made. Thanks for signing up and Happy Saving!

Let me know if you have any questions. I think this will be fun. At worst, you'll have new stuff to use on EBay! :)

Hi-I was wondering if the swap is international why only coupons valid in the US? I just want to make sure-thanks :)

happylilartist 01/ 4/2010 #

you might want to make this US only, considering that you want coupons that are valid in the US. Even in Canada, coupons are only valid in Canada, and not valid in the US, and US coupons are not valid in Canada either.

Yes-thats what I meant in my posting! Also is there a set amount we put in each envelope? Just want to make sure the exchange is fair-thanks :)

I have to agree to with happylilartist, what if you live in the US and have a partner in Canada, I have no idea where to find Canadian coupons.

The only reason I made the swap international is because some of the wives that live on army bases use coupons at the barracks. I will change it to U.S. only to keep the confusion down. Thanks. Kimberly (kandm17)

Thats great-thank you! You should def do one for military wives-I think they would appreciate it. Youre lucky you get so many-its hard to get coupons here in NY :(

I "cleaned out" my coupons just last week. :(
This is a great swap idea though. I hope you consider doing a monthly version.

i think an international coupon swap (where you send coupons from your own country) would be a fun ephemera swap, so we'd have colorful and text-heavy paper to use in our art!

ksj1717 01/ 7/2010 #

It would be nice if this could be a monthly swap. Let's see how the first one goes. The international one sounds fun, too. Unfortunately, I'm not signing up for any art projects until my two-month-old is at least three! Okay...maybe a little before that, but I owe pages out already. :)

Last day for signup! I will send out partners tomorrow and we can start saving! Hurray!

One thing to think about with couponing: sometimes, depending on the paper weight, 30 coupons may result in needing extra postage. Just want to make sure people think about it so that their mail isn't returned for insufficient postage, resulting in soon-to-expire coupons expiring before they even make it to the partner. :)

ksj1717 01/16/2010 #

Good point, adastra. You should have your partners now. Let me know, folks, if you have any problems or questions that need to be resolved first. Thanks, Kimberly

Wondermama and Joyteach, I must tell you that I think I accidentally put some expired coupons back into your packs. I think that I sent you enough that it won't make a difference in your totals, but just keep an eye out because I'm missing that stack! :) Everyone post in how much you think you might be able to save from the coupons that you receive. I am just curious to know how successful this swap actually is and if I should do another. Thanks, Kimberly (kandm17)

I would love to do another one of these. First envelope and I received about 15 coupons that I can use...Not bad! Still waiting for the second envelope.

ksj1717 01/27/2010 #

I received one envelope. I can use a few of the coupons! This is great.

I hope that everyone is in the process of getting your envelopes mailed; the deadline fast approaches!

I received another pack of coupons today. I can use about 16 of those definitely. I was also informed of some links we can use as well to save money. Thanks for joining my swap. Kimberly
