Description:

Do you remember reading fairy tales as a child. You know the classic ones by Hans Christian Anderson, or the Brothers Grimm. I'm not talking about the Disney versons here either. (You know they didn't ALWAYS have a happy ending.)

Well if you love these old stories like I do, then this Matchbox Swap is for you. I'm even going to make it an international swap so anyone can play. (Matchboxes are small so shipping shouldn't be too bad.)

Here's how to play:

  1. After signing up make a comment below telling which classic fairy tale is your favorite.

  2. When you get your partner, (you'll only have 1 for this swap) look at their comment to find out what their favorite fairy tale is.

  3. Decorate and fill a small (32 count) Matchbox based on the fairy tale your partner chose.

  4. Send it off by the deadline.

  5. Don't forget to rate your partner when you recieve your matchbox.

Sounds fun? I hope so. Please only sign up if you have a rating above 4.75 and no more than 1 no-send. I will be dropping anyone who doesn't meet these requirements or make a comment including their favorite fairy tale after sign-ups close. Any Questions? Feel free to contact me.

Happy Swapping!

Since I'm co-ordinating I'd better make sure I've got my comment in first.

I LOVE the story of Beauty and the Beast. It's been my favorite fairy tale since I can remember.

sooo...let me get this straight...if we do a fairy tale like little mermaid ( my personal fave) we could send seashells, little starfish, etc???

So, my favourite fairy tale may not be that popular, but perhaps it's fun for my partner to read a tale (he or) she did not know so far...I'm talking about Hans Christian Andersen's "The Wild Swans". You can look it up at wikipedia, if you don't know what it's about. The name of the princess in that tale is "Elisa" and so is mine, so I guess it's clear why I've loved this story since I was little ;)

Please could I have "The Pied Piper of Hamelin"? Not a Grimm or Hans Andersen story, but one of my favourites. If not, I'll settle for "The Snow Queen".

My favorite has always been Hans Christian Anderson's "Thumbelina." :)

When i was little my dad always used to read me the Twelve Dancing Princesses from a huge book of fairy tales that his grandma had given to him as a child. This is such an awsome swap... I love fairy tales especially the originals that havent been!

wyld_ivy, you beat me to it! I was also going to make a fairy tale matchbox swap. :D

I always loooved reading different versions of Cinderella, so I would love a non-Disney version of Cinderella (a little bit of Disney Cinderella is okay). There are so many! One of my favorites is the Chinese Cinderella version where the fairy-godmother/mother is a magical fish. But if you find a really neat/unusual version, that would be cool too!

"Hi, I am excited about being on this swap. Hansel and Gretel is my favorite fairy tale. Not sure why, just remember reading it in my fairy tale book when I was about 9 years old and loved the idea of a candy gingerbread house. Hope I can fulfill someones dream of making their matchbox. I am a christian, not a pagan, so please keep that in mind also. I am an artist so I love creativity though. Thank you, Crystal"

I love fairy tales! I have 2 Grimm Fairy tale collections, tons of different versions of Cinderella and just about any other fairy tale I can get ahold of! I will give you a variety to choose from so I can be surprised! Briar Rose (AKA Sleeping Beauty) 12 Dancing Princesses Little Mermaid

I love Cinderella. When I was younger, a teacher read versions from all over the world to us, and one from China about footbinding was included. I also looooove snow white. The disney versions do NOT appeal to me.. but if its too difficult to find non-disney stuff of either Cinderella or Snow White, then its fine. :)

Hansel and Gretel is my second to Cinderella. I loved the candy gingerbread house idea, and the children walking through the woods. It was so magical as a child to think of walking through the woods and to find a house that was not like any ordinary house. Crystal

Hi there, Schildmaid will be receiving her matchbox soon. I am mailing it out tomorrow morn. I did research on this fairy tale and there were various adaptions. Hope you enjoy! Crystal
