A Colour Co-ordinated Swap
I just added a link to the Resources thread for one of my favourite websites, Leafcutter Designs - then I got to thinking, perhaps we could 'borrow' one of these ideas for a swap. So here it is!

One of Lea's projects is With a Pencil in my Pocket - the idea is that participants are sent a pencil from this collection then must "seek out a real, material manifestation of our pencil’s color name – a place, person, thing, creature, activity, etc. – that somehow embodies the essence of the color name. Each of us will document our experience by writing a very short story with that very pencil that the story revolves around."

You can see all the colours & names of the 500 pencils from the original project here ) but I thought it would be nice just to pick any coloured pencil we have around the home or can buy locally, then 'seek out a real, material manifestation of [y]our pencil's colour' and name it accordingly ourselves. Then write out (using your chosen pencil) for our partners a brief explanation of why the name is relevant, or if that is self-explanatory, another anecdote relating to the pencil and/or its colour.

Swap requirements

  1. Choose a pencil.
  2. Name your pencil's colour (:..."seek out a real, material manifestation of [y]our pencil’s color name – a place, person, thing, creature, activity, etc. – that somehow embodies the essence of the color”) - so name it literally for something that is the same colour, or more laterally, for a feeling or other experience or something other that exemplifies this colour to you.
  3. Using your pencil, write a brief explanation of your choice of name.
  4. Send the pencil, along with its story to your partner.
  5. You will have 3 partners, so you will send 3 pencils and receive 3 pencils. You can send the same coloured pencil & story to each partner, or you can choose something different for each partner.
  6. You will rate your partner on receiving 1 pencil with story written in that pencil. You will not rate based on whether you like the colour, or whether you agree with your partner's explanation.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group anyway, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, so if you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, just PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

P.S. Check out Waxing Lyrical - another swap based on one of Lea's projects.
