Very cute idea :] This is for the smaller 32 count matchboxes right? Just making sure

QueenQuill 01/28/2010 #

Awesome idea! Question though...I know what some of the stuff you listed is, but what are inchies, twinchies, mail art, skinnies, chubbies, chucky books, and zines? Wow I feel so out of touch...please educate me! Thanks so much!

Oh im loving this idea.....

LadyStephanie 01/28/2010 #

@revolutionoise yes, 32 ct. Sorry I didn't specify that before.

@QueenQuill ..all of those are artforms that people swap here on swap-bot.
Inchies are 1" x 1" squares of art. Twinchies are 2" x 2" squares of art.
Mail Art is when you decorate the outside of an envie you are sending for a swap.
Skinnies and Chubbies are like ATCs, only bigger (4" x 6" I believe).
Zines are little journal books that you can create with just one sheet of paper...probably should google that for a better explanation.
And Chunky books I'm not so familiar with, so I'll defer to someone else to explain.

Hope that helps! Stick around swap-bot for a while and eventually you will see, share, swap all of them :)

Skinnies are 5''x 3".

LadyStephanie 01/28/2010 #

Thanks @patrica I wasn't sure. I was thinking of postcards. Skinnies are made like a portrait (up/down) and Chubbes are made landscape (side-to-side).

6 people with lots of people watching! I'd love to have 10 people in this swap. Variety is the spice of life :)

LadyStephanie 01/30/2010 #

I had an interesting question: Do the words have to be in English?
For this swap, let's stick with English. I think most people will expect that.

samjowers 01/30/2010 #

I wouldn't mind getting foreign language words as long as the enlish version was on the back so I would know what I had sent to someone! ...wouldn't want to offend someone accidentally!! :D

LadyStephanie 01/31/2010 #

We are up to 10 swappers! Thank you!!!

Just FYI the Help! Link on Swap-bot has a FAQ & Glossary section for all those craft terms that get thrown about. I have found it very helpful.

I'm excited for this one! :)

Sarah90 02/10/2010 #

random question - where do stuff like the and symbol - '&' lie? Of course I wouldn't make the entire box of them (anymore than I'd fill the box with the word 'apple' - but are they acceptable?

LadyStephanie 02/11/2010 #

acceptable

And I have found that a lot of the 'words' I like for my box are actually phrases. I decide to leave them that way and if my partner wants to separate the words, they can.

LadyStephanie 02/16/2010 #

Goodness! 39 people...that's wonderful! Okay, here we go!
Ready, Set, Swap!!!

LadyStephanie 02/16/2010 #

Please send your matchbox in a padded envie. Thank you.

doublesided 02/16/2010 #

Mine is ready to go - I spent today making it! Cant wait to see what my partner makes for me.

LadyStephanie 02/17/2010 #

Someone asked if the matchbox has to be handmade or if it is okay to cover one. Either way is fine! I plan on covering one myself...it's up to you. Just send something your partner will love!

ShandaPanda 02/17/2010 #

Finished this yesterday~such a fun theme! Thanks for hosting!

LadyStephanie 02/21/2010 #
