Description:

Lately i've been wantin to receive these cute little things, so lets swap some :] If you dont know what a moleskine notebook is, heres a little history about it that I pulled from their website..

For two centuries now Moleskine® (mol-a-skeen'-a) has been the legendary notebook of artists, writers, intellectuals and travelers. From gifted artists Henri Matisse (1869–1954) and Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890), to poet and leader of the surrealist movement André Breton (1896-1966) to Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) considered the most influential writer of the last century, to famous travel writer Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989).

For this swap, rather than having you decorate the covers of a moleskine for a partner, you will send in completely NAKED which means that it cannot be in an envelope, you will literally send it with the stamps directly on the notebook, with the address of the person on it. You can buy these at many book stores like Barnes and Nobles or Borders. We will all send the "large" sized moleskine cahiers, which are bigger than the "pocket sized" and smaller than "extra large" size..Any color, lined or blank. If you want, you may lightly decorate the outside with some watercolors, a few rubber stamps, stickers, etc, but let most of the art be in the neat look of the stamps, address, dirty marks and bends from transport, and the marks they use to cancel the stamps :] To seal the book shut, you can use a method of your choice, but I know that I will probably tape it so my partner can just slice it open :] One thing that Im also making a rule is that you MUST use regular stamps, rather than going to the post office counter and having them print the yucky looking pink and white "stamp".. After all the stamp is a big part of the art, so we want that to be pretty, maybe use a combination of different priced stamps?.. I know for me, I will just go up to the counter and have them price it then put the stamps on myself, because Im not sure what the price would be for something like that. Anyways, heres the boring stuff... Please have at least a 4.9 rating, and because this is a bit of a challenging swap, no newbies unless you message me and I think I trust you :] As always, I will angel because I think that thats only fair in a swap in which the coordinator includes newbies who could possibly flake.. Comment for questions :]

Could you tell me the measurement of your medium size please?

revolutionoise 02/13/2010 #

Yes, medium size moleskine cahiers are 5.25 inches by 8.25 :]

Such a neat idea!!! I'm watching!!

Once assigned is can we check with our partner to see if they have any preferences (ie lined vs unlined or even if they want to choose a different size)? I only use smaller, unlined Moleskines so I'd have to purchase one specifically for this swap and wouldn't mind tailoring it a bit.

So, if i understand correctly, it's the 13x21 cm type we will send ? Just to rule out misunderstandings ;-)

Learned something today about sending international. Anything that is not a "letter" requires a custom form. So, i lucked out and had a wonderful postal clerk who worked to make sure the custom form that had to be affixed to my moleskine, added to the design not subtracted from it. Great swap fun!!!

Just making sure...These are "Cahiers" like the ones in the picture, right? Not the thicker book versions? Would hate to misunderstand and disappoint someone.

Can someone answer my question ;-) ? It's nearly send date and i'm waiting :-)

Okay, I went to send my Moleskine to my partner and requested from the worker that I get stamps and not the machine made boring white one. He almost went postal on me. Not to mention the line of people waiting for me and the worker to count all of his stamps to make it the amount needed to mail it. I tried to tell him to just go over to make it easier but he wouldn't. Instead he'd rather glare at me.

LOL

I love swapping.
