Description:

For this swap you will get a small inexpensive notepad, no smaller than 3 x 5. Something like a spiral bound memo pad. Fill at least 40 pages with anything you want. Quotes, recipes, prompts and random thoughts. Make sure it is 40 pages and every page has something on it. You do not have to write on the front and back unless you want. If you have a smaller journal like 21/2 x 4 please add a few more pages. That should even it out. I am sure many of us will write more than 40 pages.

You will have a month to complete this mini journal. You can start before partners are assigned.

The journal doesn't have to be decorated.

You must have a 4.8 rating. No recent 1 or 3's

Newbies are welcome with a well filled profile.

This is an awesome idea for a swap. Thank you so much for starting it and for letting newbies join (: Passion

kraftykj 02/20/2010 #

Thank you but I can't take full credit for it. Last year I was in a similar swap and I really enjoyed it.

SaraswatiChB 02/21/2010 #

Since this is just such a small item, why didn't you make it international? Postage shouldn't be too high.

driftwood 02/21/2010 #

I did one of these last year. I just looked through it again yesterday. and it was fun!! hope it is an open minded group.

kraftykj 02/21/2010 #

I would like for everyone to be open minded. I want this to be fun for everyone.

papercaper 02/21/2010 #

Thanks for changing this to International. It's such a cool idea. Like drawing/writing in your own notebook and then sharing it. :D

janeengland 02/21/2010 #

iv already started mine and cant wait this is my first journal swap, iv a few ideas of what to fill it witn, but when you talk about open minds what kind of things are you refering to? is it ok to draw, and stick things in the journal, stick as in stickers, print out from the computer and cut outs from newspapers and magazines?

kraftykj 02/21/2010 #

I think it should be filled with whatever you want to put in it. Everything you mentioned sounds wonderful. Open minded means that you can write about anything you want and not have someone censure what you have wrote. Just have fun with the journal!

kawaii1989 02/21/2010 #

I really cant wait to do this swap as it will be my first journal swap aswell.

janeengland 02/21/2010 #

krafty you are a vey good host very quick response to everyones questions i hope there will be more of these swaps

kraftykj 02/21/2010 #

Thank you! Am planning on doing more...

user2637 02/22/2010 #

I joined up, sounds like fun. I do have a question though. When it says "every page has something on it" does that necessarily mean writing? Sometimes I like to paste things from my day into my journals and jot a few notes about them, or draw a picture of a cute outfit I saw on a gal on the street, etc. Kinda arty-like. I do write as well, but the visuals are fun for me. Is that okay for this swap?

secretterrabite 02/22/2010 #

I see random drawings the same as random thoughts. I have started mine and it has stuff stuck in, quotes, patterns I like to doodle, I think random can be anything.

kraftykj 02/22/2010 #

Random to me means anything you would like to share. My journals are more writing since I can't draw. I am one of them sticker people.... Although the last journal I was in I use cut outs from magazines and it seemed to make the journal a lot better imo. Just have fun and do what you want. If you want to try new stuff this is the perfect chance.I wanted a fast easy and fun journal....

Normsgal91 02/23/2010 #

I am looking forward to this swap. I just ask that whoever ends up with me that you keep it clean please. Thanks! =)

occasiongb6557 02/23/2010 #

Random--without thought, uniformity or aplied without regularity.

I love the idea of this swap but I have to think on it some more, the last two journal swaps I did I got flaked on and I'm kind of timid about trying a third time....will watch for now.

kraftykj 02/23/2010 #

I will angel this swap if needed! I also have been flaked on in several journal swaps. It is very disappointing to say the least.

secretterrabite 02/24/2010 #

I was in this swap when it happened last year there were flakers in it and some really late senders. Journal swaps seem to be the worst for flakers.

savannahjan 02/24/2010 #

I just want to publicly thank kraftykj for letting Newbies into this swap. I specifically came to swap-bot to do journal swaps and they are the hardest ones to get into! I can't even join a journaling group because I'm a Newbie.

So thank you so mcuh for taking a chance on us Newbs. Sometimes Newbies want to have fun too!

kleedawn 02/25/2010 #

question : so when it says deadline can you send it to your partner before then? like weeks or days before then as long as it is before that deadline date? and i want to let everyone knw i may be very very new to this but if i sign up for something i will send i just dont want people to think because im new that means im going to be a flaker thats not the case please give me a fair chance thank you and im looking forward to the swap!

user2637 02/25/2010 #

@kleedawn - the "deadline" is the last day you can send. Y

user2637 02/25/2010 #

Oops, hit enter accidentally. I was saying, You can of course send earlier. For this one though, I would recommend not rushing it; personally, I find journals more fun to read if they span a few weeks or a month, rather than all being in a few days. :)

beenebag 02/25/2010 #

Will you have just a US version of this? I just sent a small notebook international and it cost over $10 to ship standard airmail, no cheaper option:( The notebook only cost me 50-cents!!!

I would love to join since I did one of these before and it was a lot of fun putting it together. Just can't afford the extra postage right now:(

kraftykj 02/25/2010 #

I will do a usa one in a couple of weeks. I started with usa only on this one and there was a lot who wanted international so I changed it.

savannahjan 02/25/2010 #

You're going to be doing a USA one? Maybe I'll pull out of this one and do that one instead based on beenebag's comment.

Filpot 02/25/2010 #

I'm really looking forward to doing this. One question - do I have to use a shop bought spiral notepad, or am I allowed to make a little book myself (bigger than 3x5 inches and with at least 40 pages)? Thanks for allowing newbies in - judging by the comments from other newbies, we're all raring to go!!

kraftykj 02/25/2010 #

I think making your journal is a great ideal! I am not that creative but would love to receive one that someone had made!

GenjiPomf 02/26/2010 #

Pages = back and front, or one sided? <3

kraftykj 02/26/2010 #

Just a total of 40 pages...doesn't have to be front and back! Whatever you want to do!

Filpot 02/26/2010 #

Good question CrayonGuru - I hadn't thought of that. I've made my journal with 40 pages - that is, 20 sheets of paper, which equals 40 pages when I've put something on the front and back of each sheet. I hope this is okay!

FiWebster 02/26/2010 #

Great concept for a swap, KJ! I have a question: would it be OK if the journal is a little bit smaller than 3x5, provided that you fill more than 40 pages? I have a really cute little memo book I would love to use for this, which has over 100 pages in it, but it's 3x4, not 3x5. I'm a long-winded gal (as you can tell from this question), so I know I'll fill a lot more that 40 pp.

FiWebster 02/26/2010 #

by the way, what's a "prompt"?

mousepoo 02/26/2010 #

The moleskine Voltaire's are smaller than 3x5. They are like 2 1/2 by 3. That's what I would like to use.

user7088 02/27/2010 #

I'm going to make my journal too! And as newbie, I appreciate being allowed to play!

kraftykj 03/30/2010 #

How is the journal coming along for everyone?

patty 04/ 3/2010 #

still working on mine. will be mailing a couple days late but have already e-mailed my partner to let her know. Want this to be good as I can make it.

ROOTMIX 04/ 5/2010 #

excited to see final journals!

kraftykj 04/ 9/2010 #

Have been looking to see who hasn't sent their journals. Let me know if you need some help...Karen

user2637 04/12/2010 #

Just wanted to say that I loved making my journal and loved reading my partner's journal. This was a great swap and I would totally do it again. :)

kraftykj 04/14/2010 #

Please let me know if you do not recieve journal so I can angel it for you.

tamipal6 04/16/2010 #

I have not received anything for this swap, even though my partner seems to have marked "sent"... but please do not angel as I don't want you to have to do that, kraftykj. :)

I REALLY enjoyed working on this swap, so that's my reward. I loved working in the small, inexpensive journal and being "random" with whatever was interesting to me at the time.
