EDITED 3/6/10

Since the first swap went so well, I'm doing the same swap again!

Feel free to join even if you didn't participate in the first swap :)

I love artwork by Indigenous cultures, and thought it would be fun to share some postcards of different indigenous ART from around the world!

GUIDELINES: This swap is international - postage is quite low as we will be sending sending 1 quailty postcard with a QUALITY reproduction of an indigenous artwork on the front to 2 partners. This swap is for store-bought cards only, NO HANDMADE (just to keep things fair!). They can be purchased from museum or gallery gift shops, souvenir shops, etc.

PCs should be sent NAKED (NOT in an envelope), with a small message on the back to your partners (doesn't have to be about the artwork - a nice hello will do!).

Swappers must have no 1s to participate, and I have the right to ban anyone who I think will not meet the requirements of this swap.

Let's broaden our knowledge of indigenous art from around the world :)

I have a question, Maggie: I have always wanted to copy, like with markers of different sizes & colors, one of those gorgeous Australian Aborigine "dream time" paintings. So long as I give credit to the artist on my pc, would it be OK for me to do that as a handmade card for the aboriginal art swap?

hello! this is such a good idea! just to make sure, does the reproduction of our national traditional puppet count as indigenous artwork? thanks;)

I didn't sign up for the first one because I didn't think I had any indigenous PCs in my collection, but I was just so used to seeing them I'd stopped registering that they were indeed indigenous. Turns out I had (have) 2 or 3 really nice ones. Lucky for this round's partners. ;)

Hi guys, sorry for not replying to your questions/comments sooner, it's first week back at uni so things have been hectic for me!

@ melusina: Fi, for this swap, lets try to keep it storebought cards, so that everything is fair. This wap is to show authentic indigenous art from your country. Having said that, once your partner is assigned, you could message them and ask them if they would mind a handmade one - but otherwise, let's just stick to store bought! :) Hope you join!

@ alvey: Hmm...I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean by reproduction - like a drawing or photo on the PC? If so, then yes, I'd say that counts! If you want, you could e-mail me a scan (@ [email protected]) of the PC you have in mind. Hope this helps!

@ papercaper: lol, good to hear! I am really happy you're joining this time round! :)

I just edited the swap info to make things a bit clearer - also, please read my responses above if you're unsure of anything!

also...let's see if we can get more than 18 of us to join this swap in order to make it more successful than the last one! ;)

Thanks for answering my question, Maggie, but in doing so, you raised a new one--a requirement not stated in the above writeup. Now you're saying the PC has to display indigenous art from "your country." In other words, for an American, it would have to be indigenous art from some native American tribe who dwell within the U.S. That definitely counts me out, because the few indigenous art PC's I have are from other countries. Oh well.

maggie16 03/ 6/2010 #

oh, ok. well, i suppose it won't matter if itisn't from your country - feel free to send PCsthat you have collected from other parts of the world :) just as long as the artwork is indigenous tosome country in the world, then it will be fine!

i have extended the sign-up date to allow more people to join!
