Should they be self adhesive?

Good question. My homemade ones are NOT, and I wouldn't know how to make them so. My store bought ones ARE... if I can just find them now!!

Do you know how to make them self adhesive? Maybe I can buy a full page of white adhesive paper and print them on it.

What does anyone else think? I imagined we would all just use a quality glue stick or something on them...

But if everyone else prefers self-adhesive I don't mind buying some more... some of mine are hand made.

As for the self adhesive thing, I don't mind one way or the other. :) It would be a little tougher to make them self adhesive if they are handmade, although I have done it in the past. I usually use drymount sheets cut to size or in strips on the back. I have tons leftover from my Graphic Design School days. (I bought it whenever it was on sale and it is still good 10 years later lol)

If you are going to be printing your bookplate, you can get full sized 'label' sheets, they are usually found around the mailing labels. I have some of that but haven't used it yet as I feel like my printer sucks. Or maybe mounting squares, like the ones for photos? Lot's of choices, but a glue stick would work perfectly as well. :)

So, Michael's has a sticker maker for $25, which you can use their 40% off coupon on when they have it. Wal-Mart has the same sticker maker for $20. They make a 5 inch sticker. But I found a teeny tiny one by the same company at Wal-Mart for $8 that makes stickers up to 1 1/2 inches wide (I think)... and mostly I was thinking little mail art stickers...Had I gotten the bigger one I could have made all my bookplates self-adhesive!!! But I bought the little one because I am broke. Anyway, it is super easy to use and a great idea for next time! :)

I have one of those Holly! (the small one cause I wasn't sure how much I'd use it) But it is awesome, and actually used it in the last swap I sent to you. (the little submarine stamps) Helpful tip: if you are using a paper punch to make your little stickers, put strips into the sticker machine before you punch them, they turn out a lot better.

Oh... great idea!! I will try it. I was wrong about the prices... the michaels one is 5 inch, $50, the Wal-mart one is 5 inch, $20!!! :( So when I have $29 to spare I will go with Wal-Mart!!

the michaels $25 one is 2 1/2 inch.

I am so jealous! We don't have a Michael's near my house and I love the stuff they have way more than Hobby Lobby.
