Ok! Take a magazine cover that you really like. Don't worry, you won't hurt it! Open your printer. Lay flat stuff on it. Like yarn, lace, paper, even more photos. Now place your magazine on top. Close. Set printer for 4x6 photo. Hit print. VIOLA! Postcard!

Interesting idea, but it only works if your color printer is really good quality and if you hava an all in one printer that scans as well. The printer part of my all in one doesn't work anymore, so I could scan and then send the picture to be printed on real photo paper at the drug store.

Swan, thanks for that clarification about all-in-one printers. I was scratching my head trying to figure out how this would work! (Obviously, I've never owned an all-in-one...)

Is there any rule about what type of paper finish this has to have..do we need to use glossy photo paper, or just ordinary printer paper mounted onto card?

I'll be spraying mine with fixative because I don't think my colour printer ink is entirely waterproof and it may get damp whilst in the mail!

Perhaps I could take it to Kinkos and do this on the color copier?

If you want take it to that KODAK printer and it'll work there. No other rules about paper. I've done this before and it is fun.

Can I do up the collage, take a photo of it and have that printed? My camera takes fantastic shots of things like that. My printer at home doesn't work at the moment, but I would love to try making a photo collage card anyway. :-) I would get the photo printed in a store and I would laminate it before sending, so it would be just as solid as a regular postcard, in fact more so. Would that be OK?

Excellent idea! Go for it!!

I tried this and the results are just awesome! Great idea and I plan on using it more. I'm in on this swap.
