Description:

this is an international swap*

create one VICTORIAN MOURNING DOLL (media is artists choice) size should be a minimum of 5-6 inches from head to toe...

larger than this is not a requirement

and send to 1 partner

this above picture is inspirational only NOT an actual representation of what your doll should look like...

personally mine will have the body of a "primituve stump doll" and i will paint a similar face to the above picture with acrylic and then i will either paint on the body or add some trim and paint.or if i am feeling brave, attempt to clothe it...i will add some type of locket, maybe with a pin or sew with a black bow to the heart....

basically this can be done as easily as a doll body, no arms/legs and with cheapie craft paint only.........any extras are of course up to the sender...

your doll can be made of clay or paper mache......what other medias can you think of???

everyone post links, tips and anythig else mourning doll related below in the swap forum.

above image borrowed for inspiration taken from madam talbots victorian lowbrow

I wish I could sew, paper mache, anything to make a doll... sigh. Good luck to everyone who joins.

awwww, its no so difficult but if you dont feel confident, perhaps something will come around again, its always fun to do a test run,

one idea is to hand sew something and give it a go for decorating.or jusy play with some clay....see what happens.......

threesweetpeas 03/25/2010 #

ooh i want to day no "dotte dolls""

there is no need for a hanger or tail,

you could however use a simple body without arms/legs............

This is really the best idea for a swap. I am coming up with ideas and then hope to join...

I just finished my doll; I used polymer clay and fabric. She turned out great, if I do say so myself. I can't hardly wait to send her out to her new home!

I just now looked at the Madame Talbot site and am quite impressed. We should do a skull doll &/or plague doctor doll swap, how much fun would they be?

threesweetpeas 03/30/2010 #

only 1 more day until partners are out!!!

tell yourf riends!lol

threesweetpeas 04/ 1/2010 #

ok girls partners are out, get to swappin, there is enough time if you begin early to experiement, thus the long sendd ate.you Do have time to make a trial run and then another, perhaps keep one for yourself,

also if you are going to be late, please communicate both via s-b- mail to your partner and me, but also copy and paste that note here in this forum below the swap, sometimes mail gets lost or deleted and then if its here also you have dated proof of communication process.

just a tip....

hopefully we wont have any problems, i am sure!

have fun!
