Last day to signup/drop:May 1, 2010
Date items must be sent by:June 2, 2010
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

For this swap, you will crochet or knit two pot holders for two partners. One pot holder will go to each partner for a total of two pot holders you will be creating.

After joining, each participant should list at least 3 color combinations they would like for their pot holders.

When you get your partner, come back to this page and look for your partner's list. Then choose 1 of the combos and crochet or knit a wonderful pot holder for them!

If you have not posted a list by the time partners are assigned, it will be assumed that you are okay with any theme and your pot holders will be sender's choice.

The shape and size of the pot holders will be sender's choice. However, it is nice to check profiles for likes and dislikes (i.e. don't send a cross shape to someone who is not religious). There is no specified size for the pot holders, but please make it a decent size. No miniatures!

Here are a few patterns, or you could make your own: http://crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/potholders_etc.php

I like to use motifs and add a hanger to create my pot holders :)

Be sure to weave in all ends before sending!

This is a newbie friendly swap, as long as you have a filled out profile and at least one link to an outside site (facebook, etsy, etc.).

All other swappers should have at least a 4.8 rating, and no recent 1s or 3s. If you don't fit these requirements, please message me. I may be willing to do a 1 on 1 swap with you.

Please don't flake on this swap! If we are unfortunate enough to end up with a flaker, I will happily angel.

What is the best type of yarn for a pot holder?

APlusAmigurumi 04/20/2010 #

It depends on what you're going to use the pot holders for. If you're using them for, well, holding hot pots, then you want cotton yarn. Acrylic can melt, and wool will felt if you wash it/ agitate it with hot water. If you're just decorating with them, anything goes.

Ok, I joined! So I'd like them with hangers and something texturized if possible, and my colour themes should be:

1.) chocolate brown, light pink and teal. 2.) burgundy, gold and pale rose. 3.) Greens and blues, think of the ocean and the caribbean. 4.) sand, violet and purple. I believe that as long as I don't get any neon bright shade it's ok.

I love all colors and with pot holder and dish cloths I like them all. So what ever I get I will like.

I have a coffee-themed kitchen in deep red/ dark brown/ ivory/ taupe ... any combo of those would be absolutely ideal. Or, I could give them as a gift - I have a friend with apple green/ brown/ dark aqua/turquoise in her kitchen; or - if neither of those appeals, then just surprise me! Love hangers. I will likely be making mine from fulled wool...

I would love Pink with Black, Orange with brown or Purple with white.
