Goddess of the Month R2

This month’s block will be the Green Goddess

The finished block will be 9" which includes a 1/2 inch seam allowance. This will give enough space for a creative canvas for each square.

The Green Goddess will be an appliqué design on the block.

EDIT You may place the goddess wherever you like, as long as it's not within the seam allowance!

The goddess should be between 5 -7 inches tall and shades of green! Use whatever type of fabric you like to create your goddess or enhance her image. Make her how you envision this earthy gal, maybe with roots instead of feet and branches coming out of her hair or maybe a close up of a face in green with green flowers in her hair. If you’re having trouble getting inspired, do a Google Image Search for ‘green goddess.’

The background should also be a shade of green.

You can decorate the block itself, if you feel moved, but stick to the theme when it comes to decoration. You can use contrasting thread to make the images pop or even accent fabrics in other colours, but remember: Green green and green!

For the blocks let’s use 100% cotton and without bobbles and dangly bits that might come off when getting washed. I’d like this quilt to be useable.

REMEMBER: Try to remember to put your initials/signature or maker's mark in the square's bottom right corner (don't initial in the seam allowance!)—some people like having a signed piece from you!

Rules on joining You must have a good rating (at least a 4.9). No 1s within the past three months.

You must have at least 10 mailed/package swaps completed and rated.

I will be reviewing everyone signing up and will remove you from the swap if you don’t meet the rules/criteria.

Further info Each month will have a different theme. Because the finished product will be light and mailing costs shouldn't be ridiculous, I'm opening this up to international.

Feel free to drop in on the block trade at any time. I plan on keeping this going for quite some time in order to get in as many different goddesses and ideas done as possible, so no one should feel that they’ll have an uneven quilt if they miss a few rounds.

For any blocks that require a foundation, I will leave it up to the creator/creatrix on how best to approach that method. Make sure and put time and effort into this!
