Newbies International Paper Swap II

Launch gallery slideshow

Swap Coordinator:Meadow (contact)
Swap categories: Paper Goods  Newbie
Number of people in swap:28
Location:Other
Type:None
Last day to signup/drop:August 8, 2007
Date items must be sent by:August 17, 2007
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

This swap is for anyone who would like to get some ratings, and international swappers are very welcome! It’s pretty quick and easy, and should not be too expensive to mail if you make the right choices. [You do not have to be new -- but new swappers are welcome.]

(I have been terribly behind on sending out my swaps [due to overcommitting!] but this is a pretty easy one and I already own quite a bit to choose from. So hopefully ~fingers crossed~ by the mail date I will be ready to rock and roll.)

You will have 2 partners and will send each partner FOUR paper items, your choice. Ideas:

  • postcards (store bought or handmade)
  • letter writing sets: 2 sheets of matching paper and an envelope
  • blank notecards (store bought or handmade) with envelopes
  • any paper items they may like to use in their crafts, as their profile may say -- ATC blanks, scrapbooking papers, ephemera, etc
  • cute pad of post-it notes
  • cute/pretty/cool memo pad
  • blank journal or small notebook, decorated or plain, bought or made
  • nice stickers or other paper accents (I will not specify how much to send, but if you are sending smaller stickers, send more than one)

Take a look at your partners’ profile and see what they like. Sending 4 blank notecards of any kind from your own stash, plus an envelope for each one, is a 5 rating. For hearts, customize your package to their hobbies and tastes.

Please err on the side of generosity. If it’s not obvious how you are counting “four items" [as in sending ATC blanks, stickers, ephemera, etc] include a little note along to explain.

I don’t like to tell people how to do their ratings but I will ask everyone to be considerate. If your partner handmakes you items, or sends you stuff that is based off your profile, or they send you some extras, consider giving them a heart.

Your description said two partners, but your "Number Of Swap Partners" part is listed as three. Just wanted to let you know!

(And I'm sorry if I sounded pretty rude there!!!)

Spelldra 08/ 7/2007 #

DelennaGaribaldi 08/ 7/2007 #

ooohhh! I had to join, I love getting paper stuff! In my profile can be read what I prefer - but in this case I'm easy to please ;)

Wordsnob 08/ 8/2007 #

I'm really looking forward to this!!

erikacass 08/ 9/2007 #

Can't wait to get my swap partners! This is going to be fun! :o)

BrooklynLove 08/ 9/2007 #

I <3 cute stationery, I'm excited for this one!

Spelldra 08/ 9/2007 #

Hiya,

Will we get paired with partners from our own countries or will it be at random? (or maybe one of each?)

Thanks

DelennaGaribaldi 08/10/2007 #

Spelldra: swap-bot assigns the partners randomly. The host has nothing to do with it. So it'll be a suprise to everyone with whom he/she will get paired with ;)

In better English (from the FAQ page):

What does Swap-bot do?

Swap-bot collects the names and mailing addresses of everyone involved in the swap.

Then, using a complicated, computerized algorithm, it mixes up all of the participants and assigns the specified number of recipients to each participant. No more stressing over hand-sorting participants.

Swap-bot emails each participant after the sign up deadline to let them know that they can now access their recipient's name and address. Participants must log back in to Swap-bot to get this information. Swap-bot also sends out reminder emails to participants close to the mail deadline.

roulettegirl 08/10/2007 #

Hope we get our partners today!

erikacass 08/10/2007 #

Actually the host/coordinator does have something to do with it. Per the Swap-Bot FAQ: "Swap partners are assigned after the coordinator has had a final chance to check over the list of participants after the Signup Date. Coordinators have up to three days to initiate the partner assignment process after the signup deadline." Hope that helps! :o)

twobluecrows 08/10/2007 #

But, if the swap host doesn't assign the partners by the third day, Swap-bot will do it automatically.

Erikacass and Roulettegirl...envelopes went out today...hope you enjoy everything!

DelennaGaribaldi 08/19/2007 #

Oh great... Those who're supposed to send me haven't sent yet (according to the list). Suki has logged in Aug 12 and mompa Aug 5. I can feel the flaking approaching...

alishamitchum 08/21/2007 #

I want to put the following comment so I can't be listed as a flaker. I sent a package to JULIE CHOFFEL with the following confirmation information: Transaction Number: 96278975 Print Date/Time: 08/15/2007 02:39 PM CDT Postage Amount: $8.95 Credit Card Number: XXXX XXXX XXXX xxxx(I took out my cc info for privacy issues)

Delivery Confirmationâ„¢ # 0103 8555 7490 1197 2034 (Sequence Number 1 of 1) Shipped to: JULIE CHOFFEL

And below is the what the usps website is stating:

Label/Receipt Number: 0103 8555 7490 1197 2034 Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 4:11 PM on August 18, 2007 in OAKLAND, CA 94611 and a notice was left. It can be redelivered or picked up at the Post Office. If the item is unclaimed, it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later

I just want this to be public knowledge b/c if it gets sent back to me I'm not resending it.

I"m also going to put this as a comment on my profile b/c if it gets sent back to me and she doesn't get it I'm sure she'll rate me a one. I have contacted her privately with no response.

DelennaGaribaldi 08/21/2007 #

Suki replied to my message that she will be sending the swap on Thursday most likely. So I might have been wrong in my previous post :) Which is nice in this case :)

alishamitchum 08/21/2007 #

But it is way past the dead line for people to be sending out! Things should have been sent 4 days ago...I never could figure out what is so hard to understand about a deadline....

Alisha

juliegoose 08/21/2007 #

Hi Alisha,

I have contacted you through swap-bot about your note above, so you should have a message from me. I hadn't received any emails from you asking me to respond--just copies of UPS info--so I had no idea you wanted a response or had a concern. The way it was sent is actually the reason I haven't received it yet. But whenever it gets here is fine, so don't worry.

Julie

alishamitchum 08/21/2007 #

I don't know why usps is being like that. B/c usually if you pay for DC they just leave it at the door and scan it as delivered. SOrry about that....

ALisha

juliegoose 08/22/2007 #

No problem :)

DelennaGaribaldi 08/22/2007 #

I need to post this publicly too :) mompa answered my message that she too will be late in sending. That means I will most likely get required stuff from both my partners :)

I agree with AlishaMItchum about the deadline, but better late than never :) And things can get into the way of swapping in time.

ecstasia 08/23/2007 #

I've had several things sent to me through the years that I have had to go pick up when I was not home. Other times they do leave it at the door. I guess it depends on who the mail person is. At my current address we have THREE mail persons a week. So it's completely random. It frustrates me though because I don't have a car so I have to spend money on the bus to get my package. Once I was sick and they refused to hold one package for two hours more so that I could get it. I really hate the USPS sometimes.

Anyway, with that said, I just wanted to say that I have received both packages from my partners and I loved everything! I have left ratings for both partners as well as for Star for putting it all together =)

ecstasia 08/23/2007 #

Ha I meant as well as a star for Meadow lol

DelennaGaribaldi 08/25/2007 #

Both my partners are still in the "not send" mode. It's been 8 days from the send deadline. Will there be angeling of some sort if I get flaked?

juliegoose 08/25/2007 #

Just wanted to say I picked up Alisha's pckage today & it was fab!

WhoMoi 09/ 4/2007 #

I finally sent my packages today. I apologize for being so late.
