Description: | |
The Dinner Party is a work created by Judy Chicago (with help from many artists and craftspeople) between 1974 and 1979. It has been on permanent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum since 2007. The basic idea is a celebration of women throughout history via a table set for a dinner party. The guests are 39 mythical or historical women. Each woman is represented by a place setting, complete with ceramics and embroidered linens. Here is a link to the virtual tour from the Brooklyn Museum Website. One element of this exhibit is the Heritage Floor (pictured above), which contains the names of 999 additional women, enscribed on ceramic tiles. For this swap, you will choose one of the 999 women from the Heritage Floor using the database or the list at Wikipedia. You will then create an ATC inspired by the woman you choose, using whatever media you like, and send to one partner. I'd like to set up a blog or something to share pictures of the ATCs we create, but this will only happen with consensus of the participants. Comment below if you would like to post a picture of the ATC you create on the web or if you have any other ideas for improving this swap. |
