Regularly I check the CRAFT HOPE-website, and this time they have a great, easy project up, that even I can get done in time! If you don't know Craft Hope yet, Ãt's a website where they have a craft-project up every couple of months, for another charity. This time it's for organisations that help animals that are affected by the Gulf Coast oil spill. As I live in Holland, a country closely connected to water, this is a topic close to my heart. Copied from Craft Hope: So here is what we are going to do… They need hand towels and wash rags to clean all of the nooks and crannies of the dolphins and sea turtles. They only need small hand towels and wash rags, no large towels please. If you can sew, knit, or crochet this project is for you. We are asking that you create sets of hand towels and/or wash rags to send. Preferably in sets of 10 or 20. These do need to be handmade since we are ‘Craft Hope.’ If you are crocheting or knitting, please send whatever you can. You don’t have to send a set unless it is something you are up for. Please be aware that these donations do not have to be anything fancy. If anything, the towels and rags will be used two to three times and will have to be disposed of because they will be ruined by the toxic oil residue. This is also a great opportunity to get kids involved. It’s a wonderful way to teach them about our beaches and the fragile marine life. If you would like to add something else to your donation, please include a bottle of Dawn dish washing liquid. Washrags are approximately 10×10 square. Hand towels are approximately 14×27. Please use preferably cotton, as this works very well to absorb liquid and dirt. You can recyle old shirts or sheets! Or perhaps you have those old-fashioned fabrics that you kept in your stash for decades... On the Craft Hope website you can find more info and the address to send to. The deadline there is July 3, but that's not a problem. You can send your items after that to the lady to, she is accepting 'late' contributions. The problem will not be solved on July 3, I'm afraid! That's why I'm putting the deadline for this swap after July 3rd. For the swap: Make as much as you want, if you can't accomplish a set, that's ok. I'm sewing, so that's quick, but if you're knitting or crocheting, I wouldn't be able to accomplish that much! Take a picture of your items, and send that via email or snail-mail to your partner. This is what you will be rated for. Send the items to the address found on the Craft Hope-website. Please only sign up if you're sure you can commit to this swap. Don't flake on charity! |
