Description:

Since I see soooo many atc swaps, I figure I must be missing out on building a nice collection. BUT - I'm afraid to join with experienced atc makers for fear of being rated down because "I didn't do it right". SO.. here it is. If you are new to ATC's and want a chance to try your hand at it, here it is!

YOU choose what theme you want to use. Whether it be kawaii, food themed, flowers, whatever you think is beautiful. Make sure your embellishments are securely attached and please make it sturdy.

Of course, experienced atc makers are welcome as well!

With all this being said, please rate a 5 if the swap requirements are met. Swap requirements: make 1 atc and put some effort into it, give it your best shot, give it your all!! Make it with pride! AND send it to your partner on time. Include a note with the title of your atc, your user name, and the name of this swap. That's it.

IF you need some guidance on how to make atc's, or what to use, you can read more here.

http://www.ehow.com/how4699121artist-trading-card-atc.html

All welcome EXCepT those with 1's within the past 6 months, unexplained 3's within the last 6 months, and flakey flakers. PLEASE have a well filled out profile!

I'm keeping this local, folks. Although if this goes well I will consider an international version. OR if you wanna do one like this and make it international, well, alrighty, then. :)

Edit-I'm ending this a day sooner than the original sign-up deadline because I will be out of town on the 10th

The link above is incorrect due to SB's formatting of underscores. Click here for the link. :)

user2637 06/29/2010 #

Also, I posted this to the ATCs fpr N00bs group forum. :)

rubyhousesliprs 06/29/2010 #

Thanks for helping me correct that. I have yet to figure out how to post links correctly.

rubyhousesliprs 06/29/2010 #

INTERNATIONAL VERSION ALSO AVAILABLE

mizvicky 06/29/2010 #

thank you soooo much fr this swap!!!!!!!!!

RangerZ 07/ 1/2010 #

Thanks for posting this. I'm new myself and think an ATC swap with no theme will be especially good for beginners! We can let our imaginations loose!

ChelseaLake 07/ 2/2010 #

beautiful. still kind of new to the whole thing. tried to get my friends into it...but they are kind of not crafty at all. thank you so much!

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 6/2010 #

Hi, I just wanted to remind everyone that this swap is for those of us with no atc making experience, and you may receive a card that is not your exact style, so please rate fairly. We all have to start somewhere. Thanks!

Stephyni 07/ 6/2010 #

This sounds like fun! Will be my first swap so I am going to give it my all:)

lthykeson 07/ 7/2010 #

This is the perfect swap for me! I have done very few atc's, and I am not a huge fan of the vintage, embellished to the hilt look of a lot of the atc's out there right now. Personally I prefer a painted/drawn/collaged (in a more modern, thought-provoking way...)card. I am happy with whatever I get, but I like this swap-takes some of the stress factor out of creating!

twobluecrows 07/ 7/2010 #

Newbies: A lot ofo newcomers to ATCs think it's all about collage or what's called Mixed Media where you use paper, fabric, bits and pieces, etc.

However... If you are a painter, or good at drawing, or photography pr any other medium, but not good or unfamiliar with mixed media, or collage, don't do it! Just make a beautiful little painting or drawing, or whatever you are good at, and it will be the perfect ATC--the point of ATCs is to trade small pieces of YOUR art, not to make something you don't ordinarily do.

It's nice to practice new styles and techniques with small pieces, and that's suitable for a swap if you think it represents YOUR Art, but just remember the point and your ATCs will be great.

To post a link you type it in as follows:

to post a picture, make sure it's no bigger than 4" x 6" and 72 dpi resolution. have it stored on an online photo site, get the URL for it from there and post it as follows:

twobluecrows 07/ 7/2010 #

The first image above shows how to link to Swap-bot.com, if you type it in exactly like the image you get this:

Swap-bot

The two images were posted using the method in the second image, my pics are stored at fotki.com in my albums, and each one has a unique URL for posting.

mizvicky 07/ 7/2010 #

this is scary for me... i do not paint or draw.. So, I hope it will be appreciated....

BTW, It will be more than just stickers thrown on a card.TRUST me on this..I WILL put some effort into it...

j3ss1ca 07/ 7/2010 #

Ditto, mizvicky. I don't paint or draw either. But, I promise to try my best and I always put effort into everything that I do.

Thanks for this swap. Another swapper sent me a little ATC kit and it's been collecting dust for months. I just pulled it out the other night and went through it. Thinking how fun it would be to try something new. But, where is start?, I have no experience. This sounds like a perfect place to start. Thanks!

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 7/2010 #

I purchased an ATC kit on etsy. Since it is my first time creating an ATC and I can't draw a stick figure to save my life, I thought I'd do an all paper atc. This is why I have been afraid to join ATC swaps and decided to make a "safe" atc swap. I will most likely do this as a series because I need lots of practice before I dare jump into the experienced atc swaps.

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 7/2010 #

Thank you for the helpful hints, @twobluecrows They are greatly appreciated.

MysticBayou 07/ 7/2010 #

I just joined :) This will be my very first ATC!! I do not paint or draw either. I have heard some swappers who love to make and trade these complain about receiving a card with a swipe of glue and a sprinkle of glitter on it for a ATC swap .I can definitely see their point.I will make sure I put a lot of effort in!! I LOVE Over the Top and Glitter-y, or Whatever my partner makes for me ATC!!

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 7/2010 #

Everybodys taste is different. Some hate glitter. Some prefer simplicity. Some (like myself) just aren't painters and don't draw well. It shouldn't be stressful when making an ATC. I hope everyone has FUN with this swap.

wishesonstars 07/ 8/2010 #

I am so glad you organized this swap! I have been wanting to try ATC's for awhile, but am kind of unsure. I have been looking at them in the galleries over at craftster.org, and feel very inspired!

pahasiga 07/ 8/2010 #

As @twobluecrows mentioned, you don't need to paint, or draw, or take photos, or make a collage, or whatever. You can do your art. It can be knit, crocheted, sewn, made of clay, burned on wood, made of metal... well, my imagination gave up, but that doesn't mean yours should do the same. Just do whatever pretty you usually do, only make it to be 3.5x2.5 inches.

mailjunkie 07/ 8/2010 #
  • sigh - I really want to do this - but feel very intimidated. I can't draw or anything in that matter - I have been told that I am not creative - I have ideas on things in my head, but when it is down on paper -I think they look horrendous! I am not picky - I would love to just see one!

I do not have an "ATC Kit" I know I have to make up my mind quick on whether or not to join... what do I do? OH MAN!!!!

mailjunkie 07/ 8/2010 #

OK - i will join - I am going to give it a shot.

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 8/2010 #

SwappingGoofy. I can't draw either. Myt ATC's will be simple.. paper and maybe some embellishments such as buttons or rhinestones. I'm in the same boat as you. Truthfully, I'm a lousy artist. But I want to try. LOL

rubyhousesliprs 07/ 8/2010 #

I'm thinking I will do more of this swap so I can get some real practice before jumping in with the "big boys and girls".. LOL

ChelseaLake 07/ 8/2010 #

I'm actually really excited you moved the deadline closer, i can't wait to get em' sent!!!!

WhoNeedsGauge 07/ 8/2010 #

I've never really understood what an ATC was before this. I'm excited to try this, it will be my first ATC experience!

VivaLaDiane 07/ 8/2010 #

Hi Newbies!!! I am one of those "big boys and girls"--and until this day I search for inspiration all of the time. I get most of it from the main Swap-bot page. I see something so intriguing (not always ATCs) and I go to that persons flickr and look at as much of their work as I can. I am completely inspired by other people here and certainly recommend it to everyone.

misimae 07/ 8/2010 #

I am pretty excited about this.. as a scrapper I have alot of friends doing ATCs, but I have never done one... thanks for this opportunity!

misimae 07/12/2010 #

I sent my ATC out this morning! Hope you like it!!

LakesideRemedy 07/12/2010 #

I will be sending my ATC out soon...it is my first one, and I am really hoping my partner will appreciate it. It isn't really of anything, but I liked the colors I used ^_^

Stephyni 07/13/2010 #

allrighty my first ever atc is done and sitting here in an envelope waiting to crawl its way to its owner:) Definitely drew the inspiration from the profile of my swap:) so here is hoping:)

misimae 07/23/2010 #

My partner has not even logged on since july 8. she has multiple 1s on her account. I have sent her a message and it has not been checked. I am afraid I am going to be flaked on my 2nd ever swap with this site. :(
