Description:

This swap is for all you clever wordsmiths with short attention spans.

For this swap you will write one ORIGINAL (that means your own words) short-short story which you will then mail to 2 partners.

What is a short-short story? For our purposes, it is a story with a BEGINNING, MIDDLE and an END that is not longer than 60 words. That's right. Your story must be 60 words or fewer, plus a title. You can use the word-count on your word processor to make sure you don't go over 60 words.

Some examples of short-short stories: http://books.guardian.co.uk/shortshortstories/0,,1178980,00.html http://www.indianchild.com/short_stories.htm

http://www.shortshortshort.com/

But remember that our stories must be 60 words or fewer!

Please remember to give your story a title, and please send your stories by snail-mail rather than electronically.

This swap is international. If you write your story in a language other than English, please provide your partners with an English-language summary of your story.

Newbies with filled-in profiles are welcome. Swappers with a rating of 4.0 and higher and no recent no-sends are welcome. If this does not describe you but you feel very strongly that you belong in this swap, please PM me first and we will work it out. I will be checking profiles and banning after the sign-up date has passed.

This is my first time hosting and I will do my best to make this a good swap for everyone, so please be nice!

This looks like it might be really difficult!

Most of the stories from http://www.shortshortshort.com are between 500 and 1500 words, and the ones from the guardian competition are about 400 long...

I’m definitely up for the challenge, although I think maybe having it a little bit longer would have made for a better story. This comment is exactly sixty words!

Whew! 60 words was so challenging, I wanted to make sure I could write a story before I signed up for the swap. With only 60 words, it's more like an anecdote, really.

Yeah, it is challenging to get a point across in 60 words or fewer. It's kind of like writing a haiku.... the best ones I've read have had a bit of a punch at the end.

I was thinking of starting a shrinking story swap, where you write a story that's 100 words and then rewrite it 9 more times, dropping 10 words each time until you end up with a "story" that's only 10 words long, but I didn't think anyone would go for that.

Well, good luck on your stories! I can't wait to read what people have come up with!

Oh my goodness, what fun this was! Mine will go out in the mail tomorrow to Vicki and TeraBACat, and I'm really excited to see what I receive! Thanks so much for hosting, Ms. Angie--a great idea for a swap!

I like the idea of a shrinking story swap too...

Tia - I resent my short story to you today. Thank you for letting me know last night that you had not received it yet. It is odd. Your in the same state as me and yet my partner in Japan received his letter in short order:) Wow the post office, lol.
