Description:

Can you write your way out of a paper bag? Let's find out!

This is a writing inspiration swap. Grab a paper bag (a lunch-size sack is the ideal size) and put five items in it. Then send the bag off to your partner.

The five items can be found treasures, quotes, random bits of whatnot, photos, etc. The idea is to use the five items to inspire a story, scene, poem, essay or other creative work.

Rate your partner on receving the paper bag with five items. When you get your bag, post below the items and how you plan to turn them into a creative piece.

I've marked this as a Type 3 swap, but it can be flat mail -- the items you send don't have to be bulky or expensive. Sender's choice though.

Group membership. International.

Received paper bag from Artistic, nicely decorated with a decorated bow. Inside was a package of Metamucil, a gauze mask as used for keeping out germs, a card from Starbucks with a free iPod download, a button which was a bird on a birdhouse, a coaster for a restaurant serving margaritas -- this is six items. I've written a somewhat grumpy short story and mailed it off to her. So now I'm waiting for my send-to partner to receive my mailing and write a story.

Ok I have received my items from June but as yet I have no idea in what direction I'll go in writig a story. I received a mint leaf, a paper clip, a picture of a giraffe in the wild, feather and a postage stamp. June I have no idea how you got the mint leaf and feather through our customs lol but i did get them lol as they are 2 banned objects. Oh well Now I'll see what can do ok .But I can't send till my next pay in a fortnight as I have a very short pay with bills this fortnight. Smiles Col

Mine came from @craftycoll a handmade brooch from a cancelled swap, a handcrafted card, some dark pink lace/tape, a torn printed serviette, a found shopping list, and a 6th item I'm currently forgetting. I'm not sure how to use each piece yet but I think it's going to be a very sad story of powerlessness, and each item will be random things the observer encounters. :)

Just received my paper bag of goodies. In the bag was a passionfruit flavoured lip balm, 3 Scrabble tiles: MFJ, an ornament with a saying on it, a bag of journal prompts and a string of light blue coloured beads. Oh this spells mystery to me! So might go with a someone who finds a journal under a passionfruit vine that is tied with a string of blue beads. There is only one entry: 'The love of a friend is joy to the heart', and the initials MFJ ...

My bag from AussieSilver was INCREDIBLE. And apparently I managed to live the list of stuff at home. I'll come back with the inventory.

Junemoon: Thanks for the returned story!

@AussieSilver sent me the following: a spiral notebook, postcards, a Tim Burton exhibition flier, a brownie recipe, a Melbourne city brochure, 6 pieces of heart shaped chocolate, assorted bookmarks and bookcards, two packages of chai tea and an index card.

A lot to think about. And the index card made me smile (I use those a lot in my writing!).
