Description:

Does it break your heart when you take five packages to the post office and come home to an empty mailbox? Do you know exactly when your mail carrier will come everyday? Do you dread Sundays, because you know those days offer no hope of mailbox love? If you answered yes to all of these questions, this swap is for you! With this swap you will be guaranteed seven days of postal Prozac! (Not actual Prozac, of course. You'll have to talk to your doctor about that...)

You will have one partner, and you will mail them seven letters--one letter everyday for five days and two letters on the sixth day. This will give your partner a reason to check the mail every day. On the day that they receive two letters, one should be saved for the following Sunday. That way Sunday won't be shrouded in the gloominess of mailbox emptiness. These letters don't have to be anything fancy, but they can be. The important thing is, once you are ready to send you must send continually for six days. You can mark sent the day you send the first letter, however.

Here's what to send each day-

Day 1. Basic introduction. Who are you? Where do you live? What do you do for a living?

Day 2. What are you passionate about? Tell your partner about it!

Day 3. What is your favorite book? Give a little synopsis to your partner and let them know why they should read it too.

Day 4. Where would you most love to travel? What would you do there? When do you think you'll go?

Day 5. Tell your partner about five things you'd like to accomplish. Want to learn a new language? Want to master some knitting needles? Perhaps, you'd like to start a flower garden!

Day 6. Send one envelope filled with little goodies--stickers, cards, stationery, etc.

Send a second envelope and write Sunday on the outside of this envelope, so that your partner knows to save it and open it on Sunday! Tell your partner about your average weekend. What do you like to do on your days off?

REMEMBER TO MAIL LETTER SIX & LETTER SEVEN IN SEPARATE ENVELOPES AND ON THE SAME DAY!

This should be cheap & fun. Who knows? It may even be the beginning of two pen friendships! Please don't sign up if you can't commit to sending all seven letters! Each letter should be at least a page, typed or handwritten.

Newbies with fully filled profiles welcome! Long-time swappers are also welcome. However, since this involves multiple mailings, anyone with a history of no sends will be banned prior to partner assignment. Unfortunately, I will not be able to angel this one. Good luck and happy swapping!

This swap was originally inspired by Omi-San's My Mailbox is Lonely swap.

Sounds like fun! I've been off Swapbot for awhile and just getting back to swapping. When I was really active they didn't have the heart system. Glad you opened up this swap for those less than 10 hearts.

I'd like to sign up! :)

Tia 09/14/2007 #

Yippee! This will be fun. :)

I'm not a newbie. You can kick me out if you want to stick to Newbies but the previous "lonely mailbox" swap was delightful -- I loved writing and receiving a letter a day, plus the neat giftie at the end. So if you only want newbies, I understad - pm or email me.

junemoon 09/17/2007 #

Ohhh, just read your first note, I'm dropping out so you won't have to do it.

Chickpea 09/17/2007 #

Hi, CalendarGirl! This swap isn't solely for newbies. It's open both to swappers without a history of no sends and to newbies, who are just getting started. Thanks for pointing out the confusion. I've adjusted the description to make it a little clearer.

junemoon 09/18/2007 #

I'm rejoining, thanks for your notes. I think the "lonely mailbox" is one of the best friendly swaps I've seen in quite a while. Thanks for hosting this one.

can't wait can't wait - hey i'm even excited even though i'm getting a headache and feel really belugrh!!!!

Omi 09/22/2007 #

Wow- amazing! It's on the top ten most popular swaps!

Though I didn't start this one myself, I'm quite flattered.

Chickpea 09/24/2007 #

Hey, everybody!

It looks like there are many great people who have signed up, and I hope it will be lots of fun for everyone involved.

In an attempt to make this a positive swapping experience, I'll be checking everyone's profile information after the swap closes. I'll be dropping people who have a history of no sends, and any newbies who haven't completely filled out their profiles. If you only have a sentence or two (or nothing at all), please go back and fill out your profile.

I was trying to figure this out and haven't been able to come to a proper solution unless one begins sending on a Saturday maybe? What day are we supposed to start, or just asap? I'm sorry if this is a lame question.

Chickpea 09/25/2007 #

You can start mailing your letters on any day. Once you start mailing them, whether it's a Tuesday or a Saturday or whatever, you must mail consecutively until all of your letters have been mailed. (Of course, if there's a Sunday during the period you're mailing, you'll likely have to take a break on that day, because of no outgoing mail.)

As long as you've mailed your first letter by the swap deadline, you've met the swap requirements.

fleasha 09/25/2007 #

ok newbie question. (don't laugh@me :P ) I've got my first letter ready to send. At which point do I get to click the sent link? after they all are sent? or when I begin?

zigg13pra 09/25/2007 #

Actually, that's a good question and I was wondering the same thing myself.

roseyposey 09/26/2007 #

moi aussi!

Chickpea 09/26/2007 #

Hey, swappers,

You can click sent after you mail your first letter. It actually says that in the swap description above, but I know there's a lot to read up there.

fleasha 09/26/2007 #

oh... ooops. thanks. I see it now.

greyeyes 09/28/2007 #

I sent my first one today. :)

colorfizz 09/29/2007 #

NymphetMaggot, I sent my first letter Friday afternoon. =)

junemoon 10/ 1/2007 #

Hannah, in Bedfordshire, all you letters are in the mail. I hope this weekend doesn't bunch them all up - I hope you get them properly spaced out. Let me know when they've all arrived.

sskatherine 10/ 2/2007 #

All of mine have been sent! :)

greyeyes 10/ 4/2007 #

My last one is out! That was such fun. :)
