Description:

I've been wanting to try this for a while now...

For this swap, we will decorate an envelope with ribbon! I'm not going to put strict guidelines as to how to do it, you can use your imagination, as long as the entire envelope is covered in ribbon. You can glue/decoupage ribbon onto the envelope, or sew it, or weave ribbon together & make it into an envelope... whatever you want!

Its sender's choice as to how to decorate it/which ribbon to use, but have a look at your partner's profile for color preferences. Try not to send a color they can't stand. The ribbon(s) don't have to match, or even coordinate; this will make it art!

As I mentioned, I haven't tried this yet, so I don't know if it can be mailed this way. Please feel free to leave comments & let me know what you think. Should we put it in a clear plastic sleeve, or send it "naked" as mail art? Should we leave it unsealed so our partners can use it as they choose, or put a note or even MORE ribbon inside and seal it? As the send deadline approaches, I'll edit the swap to let everyone know how they should send it.

The envelope can be handmade, but its not required; minimum 4"x6" size.

Usual swap rules apply. Open to all group members (we should all be in good standing). No 1's, 3's or no-sends in the last 4 months. Of course I'll check before assigning partners. :)

I vote 4 naked mail with (of course) more ribbon inside and note...and we can all take pictures of our envies b4 sending incase they don't arrive in the same shape-- could it maybe be a ribbon box just thinking it might be easier to decorate w/ the ribbons...? Ò˜º

Good idea regarding the pic before sending. Maybe we should check at our local post offices before sending to make sure it can be mailed that way. I had a partner in another swap who said she originally sent me a ribbon envie, but it came back to her. I'll never know because she turned out to be a flaker & was banned. What if we laminate it somehow or put that clear contact paper over it before sending? Then nothing would get caught in the machines at the p.o.

If it ends up being just you & me, we can decide what to make/send then :)

I covered a pringles can in ribbon 4 a swap and sent it but I have not been rated by her yet so I don't know if that made it ok or not ): I glued it down really good but then it was hard to tape a label on it. tricky! (:

Oh wow... it sounds like a great idea... I honestly don't even think my post office lady would take it. I wonder if putting it in another envie just for sending. I'd hate for it to get all marred up I would feel like it was a waste if my partner couldn't enjoy the pretty.

just my thought - I am interested though...
