Will we get our journals back from our partner, or will there be additional rounds where the journals keep getting passed around?

kleedawn 08/ 9/2010 #

@kymm9901 what do you guys think? something small that the partner can keep? or something that when your partner recieves it they write in it and send it back so we can do a round 2 and get new partners to send it to again? im up for anything i just want to do something different and unique :)

RaineyDay 08/ 9/2010 #

I haven't joined yet, but I'm thinking it would be neat to do another swap and send the journals out into the world again. Maybe put our address in the back and ask that whoever makes the last entry mail it back to us???? Is that too complicated? At any rate, I'd like the idea of the journal going on and on somehow instead of just stopping.

KarlaKC 08/ 9/2010 #

I'm up for anything. I think it would be cool to keep it going out into our USA for a time, maybe 8 weeks?, and have it returned to the original sender. I think an international swap would be cool, too, to read perspectives of lives lived around the world. But anything's cool.

KarlaKC 08/ 9/2010 #

Oh, and I mean the 8 week timeframe to be carried out through several swaps, maybe 4 two-week swaps, so different partners could be assigned. Might have to require some sort of commitment at first swap so that all 4 two-week swaps are fulfilled. I'm not sure of how to accomplish it. Just some ideas.

kleedawn 08/ 9/2010 #

@karlaKC thank you for your input i really appreciate it..its hard cause these are some great ideas....

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

here is what we will do ladies you make a small journal/book write like i said for 2 weeks about anything and everything and send it, if we go for round 2 (if enough people ask for a round 2) we will go for round 2 and you send the journal/book your partner sent you (not the one you made) so it will have your 1st partners writting then if we do round 2 it will have your 2nd partners writting. your 2nd partner will then send it back to you! so you have the journal/book your 1st partner sent you ! got it? if we decide to rounds 3 and 4 we will still use the same journal/book your original partner made you and you will ALWAYS recieve it back so EVERYONE PLEASE LISTEN >> MAKE IT SOMETHING YOU WOULD WANT TO RECIEVE NICE AND PRETTY CAUSE THIS IS SOMETHING YOUR PARTNER WILL HAVE TO USE THROUGH MANY SWAPS IF WE KEEP GOING FOR ROUND AFTER ROUND DONT JUST SLAP STICKERS ON AND GO PUT HEART AND SOUL INTO IT :) THANKS AND HOPE WE ALL HAVE FUN! REMEMBER NO FLAKERS!!!

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

@raineyday the only problem with that is postage... if we do it over into other countries postage will get expensive ... what i guess we can do is make a small journal/book then make it an international swap send it to your partner then let it be passed around like a "fb" (friendship book) then the last person who writes in it like you said sends it back to you... what do you think?

kymm9901 08/10/2010 #

Would it be possible to just circulate our journals amongst those that sign up for THIS swap? Because if we are waiting for a second or third round, who knows if the person that got our journal initially will still be involved at that point. Could the coordinator of the swap make a mailing list (flow chart) of all the participants for everyone to attach to our journals. We could send to the person under our name on the list to get the books moving. As for rating you could rate your partner once the book is returned, I guess. How does that sound? We could even continue to use this "comments" section to keep everyone posted on who sent to who, etc. if we wanted to.

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

@kymm9901 thanks i love input cause it betters me :) so the after the last day to sign up i assign partners you write in your journal/book for the 2 weeks then mail it out to your partner, when your partner recieves it they rate you? then by then ill have everyones list made up and what happeneds next? is it a list of everyones name and address?

browniemommie2005 08/10/2010 #

ok so this looks like it is going to be something like a round robin - the way I would handle is this ... ... ... like @kymm9901 said rather than continuely doing swap sign ups (because maybe they won't be participating in SB anymore - I know that I have went on hiatis before from Swap Bot for weeks and not even signed on) ... ... so @kleedawn when you assign partners you have access to everyone's contact information. Before we would mail you would send a flight sheet to everyone (this will take a bit of work & please know that I could help you with the flight sheet and wouldn't even need addresses - just the list of participants - who they send to and who they receive from) each flight list will have to be different for each journal. So you send us "our" flight sheet and we make that the very first page (or second as the first could be a "property of page") but we would know that we need to put the sheets in there.

So an example of the flight sheet would be something like:

@browniemommie2005 2 @kleedawn (swap bot assigns sender 2 partner for swap) - to be mailed 8/26/10 @kleedawn 2 @kynn9901 (installment 2) - to be mailed 09/16/10 @kymm9901 2 @KarlaKC (installment 3) - to be mailed to be mailed 10/07/10 @KarlaKC 2 @RaineyDay (installmnt 4) to be mailed 10/28/10 @RaineyDay 2 @browniemommie2005 (journal going back home to creator) - to be mailed 11/18/10 (these dates are the original mail by date - a week to be in the mail system and then 2 weeks to write in the journal)

I just used the names of those in the comment section to give an example of the flight sheet for one journal.

I am watching this and would definitley love to be a part of it if we figure this part out. By keeping it going thrugh all the participants we will return a full (hopefully) journal. The one thing that I would suggest in the beginning of each "new" swapper entry they list their swap bot id and contact information (since this is called a unique pen pal swap so that we could write to the journal participants if we wanted to).

I hope that all made sence :0)

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

@browniemommie2005 thanks :) :) !!!!! lol im like going in different directions with all the ideas but i really appreciate them all !! so when everyone is done signing up can i email you all the names and stuff you need cause to be honest the only part im confused on is the flight sheet and how it works... ive never even heard of it lol... i hope we get to do this swap the way we are thinking it should go so we can have a full journal and we know who will have it and return it! (you know what i mean? ) im glad ill be getting mine back with alot to read about other people that was my inicial point of the swap .... lol.... so where do we go from here for the flight sheet? just wait untill everyone is signed up? and if there isnt alot of people signed up that means we can write more than an intro lol :) thank you again EVERYONE! this is my first JOURNAL swap im doing and i hope it turns out :)

kymm9901 08/10/2010 #

To keep it simple @browniemommie2005 we could mail off our journal to our computer assigned partner. When we receive a journal we can send off to our same assigned partner. That way each book will make its way around the group and end up back at the originator. Each participant will only have to send to one address. A list of "send by" dates could be attached to the front of each journal. How does that sound?

queenelisheba 08/10/2010 #

this looks like so much fun!! I'm in! I'm very confused as to what will be done and how but I'm in...and how long will we have to prepare our journal....just the 2 weeks?

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

@queenelisheba you can start now if you would like but as far as details go we are clearing them now lol ill be back soon with more details im glad you are in :)

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

which do you guys think is the best way lol ????

browniemommie2005 08/10/2010 #

ok - the only problem I see with the idea of always sending to our computer generated partner is what happens if the person that they send to is the partner we receive from - in other words they may possibly get their journal back with in a short amount of time and it would not be filled up. No one knows how the computer generator thingie works - for example I was in a swap with 150 participants and 3 partners - one of those that sent to me also sent to 2 of my partners that I was to send to. I have no problem figuring out a flight sheet for everyone - I have OCD and that is one of those things that has to be just right and I can do it pretty easily and quickly

Ottman 08/10/2010 #

I was going to sign up for this but I started reading the comments and now I'm very confused. Haha.

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

ok what if when we recieve the journal from your partner you write in it then send to your partner then your partner sends to her partner and her partner and so on untill the person who made it recieves it does that make sense? sorry @ottman we are still trying to figuring it out ourselves lol if alot of people dont sign up it wouldnt be that hard to make sure you get your journal back lol i so dont know what to do lol :)

kleedawn 08/10/2010 #

@browniemommie2005 is going to make me an example flight sheet and if thats what we end up doing so that everyone gets their journals back and with a letter from everyone in the swap will that be ok with everyone else? we just have to make sure that when you recieve another journal you dont take 3 weeks to write in it and mail it to the next person on the list lets get our journals back in a timely manner :)

kleedawn 08/11/2010 #

PLEASE EVERY NOT I CHANGED THE SIGN UP DATE TO TODAY AS THE LAST DAY!!!!!!!

queenelisheba 08/11/2010 #

is there a journal size minimum? i was thinking 5 X 7?

brighid82 08/11/2010 #

Is this the same as the mini journal swap? I'm so confused lol!!

kleedawn 08/11/2010 #

@queenelisheba no there is no size minimum beings there arent alot in this swap it doesnt matter and now we get to write alot to each other lol :) looking forward to it :)

@SLWebster82 they are alike except this one isnt mini ... lol its any size

ctyankee 08/11/2010 #

This sounds like a very exciting project! Unfortunately, sign up is today & I don't have a journal! Worse yet, I have no idea what kind of journal to get. Are you talking about the regular size b&w composition book with tons of pages? Or something much smaller with fewer pages? I know many of you are working on the logistics, but I'm stuck on the actual journal. Maybe the journal should be specified so that we all end up with the same one. But since I don't have a journal, I guess it's too late to sign up anyway.

queenelisheba 08/11/2010 #

@ctyankee I think any journal is fine...b&w composition would be perfect, or even the ones you get at the dollar store....5X7 is the smallest size you can use for this swap...i think...right @Kleedawn

KarlaKC 08/11/2010 #

Ctyankee, I figure a composition book is fine or a storebought one at least 5x7. Or you can handmake one the description says. I'll prob be using a composition style journal as I don't write small entries and there'd be more room for decorating pages or adding goodies. :-)

kleedawn 08/12/2010 #

I AGREE WITH @KARLAKC I WOULD USE A COMPOSITION STYLE SO YOU CAN GET MORE IN IT LOL THERE ARE ONLY 4 OF US SO WE NEED TO WRITE AND DECORATE LMAO :)

queenelisheba 09/20/2010 #
