Description:

This swap will be for a fabulous, ornate, rosette medallion adorned with your partner's initial. While it may look intimidating, it is actually very easy. The beautifully full and detailed look is easily achieved by layering as many elements as you want on a simple pleated paper base. The one in the picture only took me about 70 minutes to create!

There are many videos giving instructions for a basic paper rosette, but I am willing to create a simple photo tutorial and post it if several people join the swap and want me to do so. You can also use this turorial, but I don't like that she doesn't measure and crease her paper strips. Papercatdesignsvideo

Here are the details of this swap:

You will make one initial rosette medallion for one partner.

At least four inches in diameter.

Multiple (more than one!) layers of rosettes.

Adorned and embellished to make it gorgeous.

Must have partner's first initial on it. Does NOT have to be profile specific, but partner's color choices would make it extra special for them.

Include a hanger of some sort on the back. ( I used ribbon)

Must be sent on or before send-by date.

As always, I will angel, but in this group I am SURE there will be no need to do so!

Have Fun! I love mine. It's for me! Yay! I made something for ME!

I love the look of this! I'm going to have to improvise for the initial as I'm not sure we sell card ones here - i hope that'll be okay!

Katie, you can easily cut an initial out of grunge board! I love the stuff there are so many uses for it! then just ink, chalk or paint it!

Watching! If I feel brave I will try, do you make your own pleated paper or do you buy it. I am informed on some things, others I have no clue. I know I could do this if I had a proper tutorial, so I think your idea would be great of you making one as I would want to learn the correct way, I think I would like to measure and crease, etc, seems to give it a cleaner, more finished look. Thank you!

Hey, @naughtyelf you can it! It really is VERY easy. I do pleat my own paper. I have a Tonic paper cutter, and the cutting area is marked off in quarter-inch grids that are indented a tiny bit. I lay my strip of paper across it and use the grid and a bone folder to score my paper strip. I can write all this up if people want me to. I am serious, fom start to finish it took me 70 mins to make this. Maybe it would take you a little longer, but I bet not much! And Katie, I am sure any initial you come up with will be fine.

You can print out a letter onto cardstock, adhere it to chipboard/cardboard, then cut it out :o) You can glitter it, distress it, ink up the edges, whatever and it will look lovely :o)

Oh and Christine, it is so nice that you used my initials for both of your examples :o)

Haha - well you know there is always the chance that you will end up being my partner - I'm just thinking ahead!

I do hope your middle is not an "R" or a "another "C" name - you will think I am stalking you! http://lh5.ggpht.com/_cQVaTPf7wPo/TGMtBj-zLCI/AAAAAAAABmI/HunHET-RBaI/s512/DSCN0050.JPG) ![](

Very nice, btw! So pretty! And @Christopherpines thank you for the lovely compliment! I just made a doll, so I can do a small paper craft right? Especially now since @lilspotteddog has made a tutorial! Yea! I am just get a little nervous making new things, until I see the end results, I have no idea if it suits me or no, so I will watch the tutorial and then play around a bit! Thank you lovely ladies for being so helpful and sweet!

I may not be able to do this swap, but maybe in the future I will. I would need some tools and supplies I don't have right now. I know this will be a shock, but I don't own a hot glue gun, I don't normally use one in my other paper crafts or a boning tool, or a way to measure or cut accurately (like a paper cutter), and without those I just wouldn't feel confident in making something I had never made before. I hope you understand. They are just lovely though...I would just feel horrible if I sent someone something that wasn't my very best, especially in this group. But after the holidays I may look into acquiring those items and maybe we can do this one again for Spring?! Spring medallions maybe? :-) Thanks guys!
