*This is an international swap**

I am about to become a grandmother for the first time and thought it would be fun to make a series of postcards with helpful (and not so helpful, but fun/funny) hints from my mom. I figure the cards will make my daughter, who lives 700 miles away, smile when she receives them in the mail after getting by on only a few hours of sleep a night.

While making the cards, I thought it would be fun to send my mom's ramblings off to strangers, too, and get strangers' mom's ramblings back.

For this swap you will make, or buy, one (1) postcard for three (3) partners. The postcard must include something your mom, or other parental figure, always told you. Doesn't have to be sensible (my mom had some very odd, rather old-fashion, advice) but it does have to be kind. No "spare the rod, spoil the child" advice, please. The image on the front of the postcard does not have to relate to the advice, but it would be cool if it does. You can even have the advice on the front and your reaction to it on the back.

Postcards must be mailed without envelope so make sure they are postally sound before dropping them in the mailbox. Please take the time to write something other than "this is for the My Mother Used to Say swap" on your postcard. The point of postcard exchange is to communicate with others. If English isn't your mom's native language and you want to give the advice in her language, go for it! We would love translation though, so we know what advice we are giving others :-)

A note for those in the US who may be new to postcard exchanges. The USPS charges full first class rate for any postcard over 4x6 inches. And for many homemade postcards. It costs 69¢ for any postcard going to Canada or Mexico and 90¢ for any postcard going to any other country. Please make sure you have enough postage on your postcard. Lots of postcards don't make it to their recipients because there isn't enough postage on the card.
