Description:

This swap is for all those crafters out there who would like to have a variety of fibers to work with when creating projects.

Each swapper will send 2 different fancy fibers, 2 yards each - for a total of 4 yards, to each swap partner. Wrap the 4 yards around an index card, or place neatly in a baggie, and place in an envelope with your swapper info. These should definitely weigh less than an ounce, so a single "Forever" stamp will get it to its destination. I am setting this up so each swapper will have 10 partners. For the price of two skeins and $4.40 postage each person will get 20 different fibers of 2 yards each (40 yards total!!!). A nice little stash to work with.

Okay, the rules. Fancy fiber is fiber that is distinguishable from straight-plied yarn through its uniqueness in texture, color and materials. Texture can be described as furry, bumpy, fluffy, hairy - something that puts the fiber above and beyond the straightness of regular ol' yarn. Color can also distinguish the fanciness of the fiber by color varigation, intensity and/or brightness. Fancy fibers can also have a variety of materials such as acrylic fuzzy fibers run through with a metallic thread. Fancy fibers are a step above yarn.

What fancy fiber is not. It is not regular ol' straight ply yarn, ribbon, string, twine, floss, tinsel, cording (plastic, stretchy or otherwise), thread, fishing line, etc.

If you receive straight ol' plied yarn - it does not meet the swap requirements, so rate accordingly. However, if you receive something that resembles yarn but has a unique texture, such as nubby waves - then this DOES meet the swap requirement and rate accordingly. When measuring out your 2 yards, DO NOT stretch the fiber. Let it fall along the ruler or measuring tape until you've reached 2 yards and then cut. You want your partner to receive a generous 2 yards (total of 4 yards) and not a skimpy 1+ yards.

This swap is US only. No newbies this go around, I've been flaked one too many times. Must have at least 10 swaps under your belt, with at least 95 percent of those swaps being a 5 (minimum 4.8 rating). No recent 1's or 3's. Apologies for anyone who doesn't fall into these requirements, but I want this to be a positive swap for all - including myself.

Can't think of anything else that I need to add. I do reserve the right to change this swap 48 hours before partner assignment. I do not anticipate making any changes but please check back. I will mark the swap as *edited" if changes are made.

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below and I will get to them as soon as I can.

Thanks for checking out my swap - and I hope that you decide to join us!!

PS

If this swap does well, I may bring it back once a month and do a color theme (such as October swap will be black, orange & green).

This sounds like a wonderful swap sweetie. Great idea I will join if I have enough swaps finished by the sign up date. Lord knows I have plenty of fibers.

If the package/envie is too thick, there will be additional postage. Just better to get it checked at the P.O. before sending. ;)

This is true - if the envelope is thicker than 1/4 inch, there is an additional charge. Try to package the fibers where the thickness does not exceed this and one stamp should be fine.

Just my 2c...if you do not wrap these around a card or put them in a baggie-it will go for just one stamp. I would think if you were careful as to how you put the fibers in the envelope loosely, they shouldn't tangle. The recipients can then take them out and wrap them around their own card.

Thanks for hosting. I appreciate that we can have a variety, since I do not have all colors, I will probably not be able to join certain color swaps.
