Description:

Given the stressful day I had, I have been reminded of the necessity of taking time for myself to RELAX.

For this swap, you will have 1 partner and thoughtfully put together a delightful package that is profile-based. The package will include items that would bring a smile, provide a distraction, be entertaining, allow for some "me time" or the like.

The size of the box will be the US Postal Service Small Flat Rate box, which is 5-3/8” x 8-5/8” x 1-5/8”. Here is a photo if you are unsure: http://tinyurl.com/yz9webc. The cost is only $4.95 for up to 70 lbs shipped to any USA address.

Note added 8/20: only the specified box should be used, and the box should be full. It should not be busting open, but should be filled with items you have chosen for your swap partner. This does not have to be expensive. There are lots of $1 (or less) spots at stores like Target, Michaels, and A.C. Moore. This is a gift for your partner, though you are receiving a box in return. Do not send crap, as I am SURE you don't want crap in your mailbox. If this swap's requirements are simply too much for you, perhaps this is not a swap for which you should sign up.

Here are a few suggestions you could include:

  • bathroom/spa items: lotion, bath salts, eye mask, lip balm

  • dvd or cd that your partner would like

  • incense, candle, room fragrance spray

  • book

  • blank note cards, stickers, pens, markers, glitter glue

  • embellishments, brads, ribbon, notepad/book

  • yarn, pattern, sewing items, fabric/quarters, ribbon

  • cookie/brownie mix packet, cupcake liners, colored sprinkles, blank recipe cards

  • sweet treat, gum, chocolate, popcorn packet, Kool-Aid packs, tea bags/leaves, hot cocoa packet

  • scarf, mittens, cozy socks, hair lovelies

Again, please base your box's contents on your partner's profile. Therefor, please have a whishlist or list of items on your profile page before signing up for this swap so that your assigned partner will have a guide to go by when creating this lovely little package JUST for you. :)

Make sure your box is not bulging or overstuffed by USPS standards. Please ensure it is sealed well. Please only send unused items. No one wants a half-full lotion sample that you got and want to pass along because you did not like the scent. If sending anything liquid, please seal it in a Ziploc bag first! You may send vintage or handmade items if they fit your partner's profile and are not something considered "used." (If you have a question about a particular vintage item, just message me.) Include a tiny note to your partner -- perhaps words to encourage them to RELAX, your swap ID name, and the name of the swap inside the box.

This swap is USA only because of shipping costs. Please contact me if you have any questions. I hope this is a fun one for everybody. To ensure there are no flakers, I will review all participants and ban any at my discretion that appear to be inconsistent senders or unable to complete this swap.

Maybe you need to clarify on how many items we need to send to our partner. It sounds fun but some people could shove one or two items in a box while others pack it full and it just wouldn't seem fair.

weeatcrayons - Understand what you are saying. But that is the chance you take in swaps. It is the fun of receiving mail and not how much it cost a person. Some people in swaps are very generous while others may be on a smaller budget but love swaps. I don't think that amount of things in a box matters.

@weeatcrayons - The box should be full. I'll add that specifically to the description.

I would love to join this swap! I absolutely love this idea and would really like to get started. I am new to this site though will that be okay?

RetroJane 08/25/2010 #

@amoresempre - send you a small note, but will write you at length later. (Not at my home computer right now.). :)

@kali221 - I don't know if you got my message or not, but I had PM you to let you know that I'll be a couple of days late due to my son getting sick and I'm not able to get to the PO. I will mark as sent, once I'm able to get to the PO. I'm hoping it'd be Friday.
