Description:

Summer is ending and it'll be months before we see any butterflies outside. For this swap you will fill a small USPS flat-rate box (the one with $4.95 shipping) with origami paper butterflies to last your partner the fall & winter season through.

Find instructions to make the butterflies here: http://honeybeehill.com/2010/08/27/how-to-fold-a-pretty-paper-butterfly/

Make them from origami paper, wrapping paper, scrapbooking paper, paper bags, magazine pages, vintage pages, whatever creative you can find. Make them big or small. Make them medium even! Fold your butterflies and while you're doing so, consider that each one is a wish for your partner to find happiness and fulfillment.

Put as many butterflies as you can in your box. Add a few of your extra papers if you like. Also, include a nice note to your partner -- introducing yourself a bit and including any well wishes you'd like to send.

That's it! Have fun and make a pretty package!

When you get your butterflies, attach strings and hang them up as a mobile. Attach them to scrapbooking or journal pages. String them up for butterfly garland. Give them to your friends or leave them on the windshields of strangers cars.

Report back on your experience of course!

Wonderful idea for a swap!

I'm getting married in June, and I think these would make wonderful decorations, so I'd like to put in an informal request that mine be in different shades of orange. (I'll PM my partner too, when they're assigned.)

I realize this might not be possible, as some people will have started making their butterflies before partners have even been assigned, but I know these will look lovely as a garland or hanging from trees individually!
