Description:

A swap for those of us who love both knitting and hearts. After discovering Teresa Fox's 'Little Hearts' pattern on Ravelry (available for free on Ravelry at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-hearts) I have been knitting and gifting dozens of these adorable little guys. Each one has taken me approximately one hour from beginning to end (including stuffing and sewing).

My idea is that we can each knit one of these out of scrap yarn, and send it along with a note. It might be the story of the yarn (did you knit a sweater for your boyfriend, leg warmers for your pug or a pair of socks for your mum? What made you love the yarn?), a favourite quote, another cute knitting pattern or link, a love story or just a note of introduction.

Personally, I have so many odds and ends in my own stash that every time I reach into it, I am reminded of some neat project that I had otherwise forgotten. What a great opportunity to broaden the knitting community here on Swap Bot as well as use up some of our odds and ends.

I will be checking profiles prior to assigning partners-- please have a look at the pattern before you sign up to ensure that you are comfortable with the skill level that it requires. Newbies are welcome, but must have completed profiles. Otherwise, a 4.5 rating is required with no 1s or 3s in the past four months.

This will be a lot of fun, with more small project swaps to follow-- as always, please feel free to message me or comment below with any questions. Happy knitting!

Super cute! But way beyond my skill level! Maybe next time...

Yes, please do check back as future swaps may be more suitable. :)

I'm new to swapbot and I'm not allowed to sign up, but I have tons of scraps of beautiful yarn. I would really love to do this one. Any help?

Hi Knitkitty-- I'm excited for you to join in, and I have made sure that newbies and non-rated members are allowed. I notice that you are new to Swap Bot, and I remember that my swaps were limited to five at a time in the beginning-- I think that this is why it is not allowing you to sign up. Take a peek at your swaps, and see if you can drop one of them (do make sure that you watch it though, as you will want to pick it up again after you have completed this swap). If my theory is right, then once you are down to four swaps, you should be able to join this one no problem. Let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Thanks. I did move to the watch list for another swap and was allowed to join your swap. I've been knitting them all weekend. What a great project. You learn (or practice) so many techniques. I have so much scrap yarn. I love the idea of small projects like this. Is it ok to embellish the heart- like with tiny crochet flowers?

Oh, absolutely! I always think that it's important to really have fun with things you make. :)

I've been threading ribbon through some of mine, and then tying bows-- also filling some with lavender. I was just looking at one, thinking that a ribbon loop on the top could make it into a lovely Christmas tree ornament.
