For this swap you will be creating your own graffiti stickers and sending them off to three partners. The process is a simple one and all skill levels are welcome. Get the full scoop below.
Take a Photo
Start this swap by going out and shooting. I don’t care what you shoot or how you shoot it. Just take pictures. Take a lot of pictures. The more you take, the more you have to choose from in the next step.
Design a Graffiti Sticker
Choose one of your shots and turn it into a graffiti sticker with any image editing program. Add text. Erode the image. Turn it into black and white. Add borders. Pixelate it. Do something to make it more visually interesting or to get your message across.
Create Six Graffiti Stickers
The easiest thing to do is to print your design onto store-bought labels. I have found shipping labels to be one of the best options as they are a manageable size. After printing your label, cut out your stickers so that they are individual stickers and not a sheet of stickers. All sizes and shapes are acceptable. Be mindful of the notion that your partner will want to use these so they should be easily removed from their backing.
Send Two Graffiti Stickers to Three Partners
You will send two stickers to each of three partners. One sticker is for your partner to keep and the second is for your partner to stick. Two per partner is the minimum, but it’s cool if you want to send extras. The process of graffiti sticker making is a fun one--trust me when I say that you will have extras.
Receive and Stick Graffiti Stickers
One of the coolest aspects of graffiti stickers is that they are an easy way to expose a huge number of people to your art (or in this case your partners’ art). So when you receive your two stickers save one and stick one somewhere in your city. It would be awesome if we all committed to uploading photos of our partners’ stuck up stickers to flickr. It’s not often you get to see your completed work out there in the world. If you do upload to flickr, be sure to add your shots to the Sharp Shooters Pool.
