Description:

This swap is all about finding a few treasures in the local thrift store. I have become addicted to the salvation army and a local place called Value Village. I love the idea of supporting charities while saving a few bucks. I have found brand new items like AMERIBAGS! and things for school like PUZZLES. There are so many good deals out there. I was thinking about how much fun it is to wander these stopres in search of treasures. So, I wanted to combine my swaps with it. There have been some similar swaps out there like this. So, if I offend anyone I am sorry. I did not intend it. I also am in the mood for a bunch of partners. So, forgive me... 3 partners... Treasres found locally at thrift stores or garage sales. Each envie should cost about $5.00 LET'S SEE ALL THE COOL STUFF WE CAN SEND FOR 5 BUCKS!!!

I will ban anyone who I am concerned might not be able to fulfill the swap. Sorry this is USA only because of the shipping cost.I will angel if you get flaked on.

This would be REALLY awesome if everyone would include a receipt for their purchase from the thrift store! I love documenting the dollars I invested an a REALLY COOL purchase :-)

Mom2Alex -- this is a fine swap and I will join because I love shopping at my local thrift stores [there are a few] but you should know that a series of Thrift Store swaps has been running this year and it would have been nice of you to contact LadyDy5, who hosts them to let her know you were using the same idea. It's always good to look through the roster o swaps before starting one so as not to duplicate.

I think it would be a good idea that newbies know when they put up a swap, that just because it is worded different that they should check others who put up swaps of the same gender. Mine has been on now for 8 months and will continue until the month of December. I don't mind joining in this swap either as I love to shop for "stuff", however a "do you mind if I do a swap like yours" would have been polite. I am hoping that next month you join in my Thriftstore Find #9,

I think the more the merrier for swaps! There have been numerous thrifty swaps even before the one mentioned, and to be honest I've not joined 'that one' because the requirements have been too easy and the reports of flakage too big. (I see there have been some better suggestions as to checking for profile preferences rather than just sending 'something you'd like so they might too", but with the number of participants it's just too risky for me personally.) I agree that checking for similar swaps and contacting hosts is the right and good and proper thing to do, but really, there is no copyright on swaps and it feels a bit petty to bring it up in public, why not handle it in a PM?

Moot points all, because 3 partners at $5 each + shipping is too pricey for me anyway, LOL!

well... I read this and thought about it before resppnding because I do not like to respond before thinking things through. I searched swap bot and literally cold not find the end of the search. I think I decided on what I thought was fair when I clicked on a 2007 swap for something you have found at a thrift store. While I appreciate anyone who lists a swap I think if you look back you will find that almost all swaps have something similar or the same listed at one time or another. This is not college and I did not represent the idea as unique to me. I think we all need to face the fact that just about everything we do and say is copied in part from someplace. I hope you all joion and enjoy my swap. I am sorry that the cost is too much for some. But, it is a few clicks to make your opwn swap. Please do not feel the need to PM me or to use my ID. I just do not care. I agree that this swap is similar to the ones that Ladyldy5 listed. I am not new to swapping or to swap bot, and I am offended byu the suggestion that this is common sense and I just did not know better. Honestly, if this was something that was special to ypou Lady then I would have qouted you. How many years back should someone go and pm people? Should everyone running a sticker swap PM everyone else? I am sorry you feel offended. I did not join your swap because you allow anyone to join it and I had a problem with someone with a few ratings when I did sign up. There is very little that a host can do other than list the swap and assign partners. I just do not think that more expensive swaps ought to allow just anyone to join. I used to allow anyone to join my swaps and agree to angel it if someone flaked. BUT... experience has shown me that in fact you need standards.

I think the idea that a swap is similar to another and that one should ask permission is ridiculous. Grow up! It seems to be a tradition here, but I still find it unnecessary. I might have joined this swap, but I can't keep three people apart in my mind, and I like swaps to be very personalized aka profile specific.
