Description:

Hi, everyone!! I recently joined a lyrics journal swap and though I love the idea, I've asked myself many times "why write the whole song when just a short fragment is relevant?"

So I came up with this swap ^^

The idea is not to limit oneself to just songs. Feel free to include anything you find interesting. Like I said before, it may be just a fragment of a song, or the whole thing if you feel like it. It may be a quote from someone famous (or not!) or a book that you think is interesting, fun, or whatever. It may be a poem or a picture or... I don't know.. anything you think is worthwile. So long as it has some meaning to you, go ahead and include it. (Sure, if it's something that means something only to you, try and explain why you're including it.)

You can also use it as a journal proper and write things down.

Just two things:

BE CREATIVE and BE RESPECTFUL. We all feel frustrated from time to time, but there's always a way to vent that anger without offending others.

SPECIFICS:

*Don't repeat stuff... use new things for each entry. *Keep the journal for one whole month and write at least one entry for each day. *It is up to you if you just write down the quote and leave it at that or if you write it down and then explain it, and who am I to tell you how much to write, but it has to have at least one page for each day of the month. *You can choose to either make your journal or buy one. The size is also up to you, but it has to be at least 16cm X 21cm (that's the size of a regular notebook in Argentina, I honestly don't know about other countries). *Make and send something that you would be happy to receive. I understand that some may be more skillfull that others, but try and create something beautiful that your partner will be happy to keep.

DON'T FORGET THAT THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL SWAP AND THAT YOU MAY HAVE TO SEND THIS OVERSEAS, SO WEIGHT WILL MATTER, THEREFORE SIZE WILL MATTER, TOO. SO CHOOSE WELL.

Other than that... feel free and have fun^^

If you have any comments or questions, or even suggestions, either leave a comment in the section below or PM me :)

Oh, right... one partner each and we will have over a month between sign up and sed date.

You have not mentioned size or quantity of pages, are there any rules?

ctyankee 10/ 3/2010 #

There should be some parameters. And can we make our own journal?

nyhearts 10/ 4/2010 #

Is this open to 'newbies'? :)

Florcis 10/ 4/2010 #

Hi @HollyHox @ctyankee and @nyhearts :) Let's see one by one...

Yes, it is open to newbies, so @nyhearts feel free to join :)

Yes, you can make you own journal, @ctyankee

I'm sorry for not including any parameters or more specific info, @HollyHox I'm still new in here and this is the first swap of this sort I'm coordinating, but thank you very much for pointing that out!! How about keeping the journal for one whole month? And writing at least one entry each day? Regarding sizes... I would like to think that notebooks are the same size in every country, but if that's not the case and for some reason we down here have strange things to write on, let's say it can't be smaller than 16 CM x 21 CM? That's a regular notebook here... if you want to make it bigger, go ahead and feel free.

Suggestions are more than welcome!!

Umm, about the size. I'd love to join, but I did some measuring on a couple of notebooks that seem to be a standard size here, and they all were 15cm wide, instead of 16. (Most notebooks are A5/ twice the postcard size here.)

I know this is a small difference, but I thought to ask if this size would be ok? It would make finding a good journal much easier.

I have a notebook that has been around for other journals swaps and would love to have it continued in this one. It measures 6 1/2 inches by 8 inches. I would like to use it but if not I will start another one for this swap. Thanks

Florcis 10/ 7/2010 #

Hi @nettlefly and @ladyrn Sure, there's no problem with the sizes, that's just like 1 cm less on each side. I only added that reference so that no one gets a really tiny journal in return.

Does "Don't repeat stuff... use new things for each entry." just mean we shouldn't, for example, use the same song or quote twice or do you mean that the kind of "thing" used should not be repeated (which would mean that there would only be one song, one quote, one book and so on in the whole journal)?

Florcis 10/12/2010 #

Hi @Ronya :)) Nonono, I mean don't use the same song/quote/poem/whatever twice because it'd be too repetitive. You can use songs only, if you want, and all by the same artist, for that matter, as long as they are different songs.
