Description:

I got kind of addicted to making merit badges in another swap, so I started playing around with making some more. And now I have a bunch decorating my bag. They’re cute, can be pinned or ironed on, and I don’t have to be in steampunk regalia to wear them around.

You can make the badge or medal ANY WAY you wish. Embroidered, poly clay, metal/wire work, jewelry techniques, knit, etc. It does have to be made to wear, so keep that in mind.

But as Heidi would say, there’s going to be a little twist. And I love twists. You’re going to design your badges/medals with your partner in mind. evil laughter Not only will you be making a medal/badge with your partner in mind, nooo. You must tell them how they got the medal/badge! Were they Time Traveler of the Year? Can they Knit Themselves out of Any Danger? Perhaps they’ve served their Country and deserve the Highest Honor? Perhaps they’re the Mad Scientist with the Weirdest Hair? Perhaps they Crafted the End of Time itself!

It could be kooky, serious, or whatever, but it has to be about them!

To help you out, though, I’ll minimize your homework (and stalking abilities) by asking everyone participating to either mention in their profiles or post this questionnaire below (and I will be checking for answers):

1.What’s you’re steampunk style? (This should be pretty straightforward. Are you gothy? Romantic? Goggles and gears are the must have accessories? Sepia tones? Maybe you like the more ornate and bright colors that were favored by the Victorians? Leather or lace?)

2.Do you have any characters your partners could get some inspiration from? (Maybe you LARP, help out the local historical society, RPG, or maybe this is your daily wear. You can even come up with a character on the spot if you want to, maybe to give your partner some ideas. And not everyone has to be the Mad Scientist or Time Traveler – most of my characters aren’t!)

3.Anything else you want to add? (Personailty? Colors you favor? Are you a serious person? Or would you like a badge of not-so-serious?)

Ratings: This is a profile-ish based swap. So A LOT of it is up to your partners. However, your partners should remember that I am letting in ALL craft types, and presumably, all crafting levels from beginner to Martha Stewart. Rate accordingly within the rules set by the Swapbot Admin: whether you received, it was on time, and it met the requirements, should all be considered as well.

Items should not be dirty, nasty, or go against postal regulations. These are small items, so they should not beworth much postage.

Eligibility: No 1’s within a six month period. No recent (within six months) 3’s WITHOUT a good explanation PMed to me first please (I.E.: When you sign up!). Must AT LEAST have a 4.5 rating with a good swapping history. I am going to be wary of suspicious swapping history.

Newbies with at least one type three swap under their belts, NO 1’s or 3’s, can join. This is a regional swap, so do not sign up if you're not from the continent of North America. If someone wants to do an international version, feel free!

1.I’m more versatile there. I do like traditional: grungy metal, gears, leather and lace, sepia tones. I’m not really into wearing goggles. Brass would be my favorite tone, or copper. But I also like art nouveau, the bright colors that had taken over the Victorain era at the time. Peacock blues, violent reds, jewel greens. Asian inspiration was big back then as well, and it’s something I love. Skulls and Anarchy symbols are ok, too, as the era was all about the beginnings of change. So really, I’m up for most anything: girly, punky, steamy, ornate, grungy, etc. 2. Uhh, too many to count. But my main characters are thus: Temperance ‘Temper’ Noreen is a ‘marshal’ of sorts in a Firefly-esque future. She’s not an official law man, rather, she was given a badge and told to help keep the peace. Noreen mainly wears her ‘black’ ‘law man’ uniform: sort of like this and a pair of tea shade-ish sunglasses with her hair in a modern ponytail. However, Temper does occasionally go out in her finery. Rarely, but when she does she often is given help from the woman who hired her, the Dusty Dutchess, Coytleen ‘Coyt’ Bartette. Coyt is more garish, being a known ‘madam’ and casino owner. So a lot of things, when Temper does go out, are very ornate. Temper is better with a rifle than a side arm, in fact she’s the better sniper out of the three ‘lawdogs’. She’s got skills with a knife, being both an ex-medic and a rough personality.

My second is Doxy Doll Gang Espy Wright. Espy is the ‘gunner’ and an enforcer of the all female gang that hangs by the Docks of New Glasglow. These girls wear some pretty garish outfits, in tones of black and grays. They push the envelopes even in the future. Lace, leather, corsets, fishnets, military-ish gear, and oxidized sliver or grungy silvery tones for jewelry. Nothing new. All wear odd ‘masquerade masks of sorts that cover only the bottom of their faces, ie their lips. Gothy themes, military themes, neo-Victorian themes, or real anarchy would go better with her style. Some modern stuff is added to her style as well, as these girls aren’t looking to be well-bred ladies sipping tea. But everything has that Victorian vibe to it. 3. Not really. I like birds, I’m going through a bird stage right now. But yeah. Anything would be cool.

This is pretty much just like the one I hosted on Steampunk Dandies. Yay! I'm up for another round of it! :0) My persona is an airship adventuress and poet by the name of Petronella Sazeracq- wordsmith, skysailor, tinkerer - serious on the job, but playful in the salon.

Hello! I'm new to this whole steampunk thing, but I've made things that look like this before...absolutely love this stuff! I've started to gather my 'characters' and want to know how everyone else revels in their particular persona....and please... I welcome feedback as I hate to 'fail' at anything... ;) but the one that I'm most invested in is Ginger 'Wrench' McLain... Aeronautical mechanic... LOVE HER!!! I haven't gotten too far into developing her, but so far, she's a little left of typical. A ground lover who hates to fly, but a genius with a wrench... Brown leather, copper, her 'vibe' could easily be pirate, and needs to get her wings. She loves birds, wings, feathers, old keys, and everything gears and cogs. Monotone drama is her garb, and she rarely goes out in finery and always has a wrench in her hand for a little spontaneous vigilante justice if needed.

Wow- I can't nearly cough up as much as the previous but here's a lil about me :) 1) I like anything vintage, i love everything distressed and not shiny or silver. I love lace, leather, velvet and all things girly, but a lil grunge on the side. I love clockfaces and gears and letals too. 2) I am a time traveler- very vintage and Victorian mixed. Everyone calls me "Crafty JEN" so I guess that's my alter ego. 3) I am a pretty fun person, not so serious. I sew, make jewelry, altered books and other papercrafts such as cards and tags.
