6 INCH SCRAP GRANNIES - USA ONLY!!!

This may be a silly question but I've never swapped squares before. . .is there a minimum number of rows or size of hook -- or does it not make any difference as long as the blocks are 6" square?

Also, do they have to be "traditional" grannies or can they be any type of square --- again, as long as they are 6" square?

I've been crocheting for approximately 42 years (I started when I was very young). . . but have never been in a swap for squares because I was never sure how it would work.

A granny is a granny in my opinion. I would ask my partner before I send though. Swaps are great ways to make scrapghans. I love getting squares from others. I am in swaps on yahoo and ravelry as well as here on swapbot.

Rows depends on how loose or tight you crochet, use a wooden ruler to make sure they're 6inches.

There is a basic granny pattern out there on the web, the common hook used in worsted weight is a size g. To me as long as it is 6inchs i think it doesn't matter on the pattern as long as its square. The granny pattern makes it easier for even stitches all around and allows for the different colors in the rows.....I may start a scrap afghan just from swapped squares if i can find more swaps like this....I think it would be neat to curl up under a warm blanket knowing that it came from many many swap-bot friends :)
