100 day of Journaling

Ok so I got this idea from a swap that Secretterrabite had created for a group and I have her permission to mimic this fun swap. This is a very time intensive and quite possibly expensive swap so please do not sign up if you don’t have time to dedicate to this swap. This swap is international so postage may be pricey as the finished product may be bulky. Due to high “flakage” on journal swaps as of late, there will be strict requirements to participate in this swap.

Your overall rating must be 4.95 or higher and you must have at least 20 Type 3: Package or craft swaps under your belt. No recent 1’s or 3’s. No newbies, sorry, must be an active swapper, on Swap Bot for at least 6 months. I will be checking profiles and banning any questionable swappers.

Ok, so on to the fun part!

We will each purchase or make a journal with 100 pages (50 leaves)- Moleskine Large Sketch Notebook is perfect for this project. If you are making your journal, please use thick art paper that will withstand any type of medium and reinforce where necessary.

Starting on January 1st, you will journal a page a day until April 10th. You can doodle, paint, draw, write, collage, paste photographs, etc…express how you are feeling that day with words or art. Please DATE EACH PAGE as follows: Day, date. For example: Day 1, January 1, 2011 (or Day 1, 1 January 2011). Please put effort into this swap and fill each page; this will be our creative outlet to document the beginning of 2011. Please don't stick one receipt, piece of paper, candy wrapper, etc. on the page and call it done. Try to fill the entire page.

Once you are finished, you should end up with a fat journal with 100 pages filled with art and journaling. Most of all, have FUN with this project and create some thing that your partner will love and that you yourself would love to receive.

Any questions, please PM me.

Such fun! Watching!

secretterrabite 11/30/2010 #

Yay! I've sent messages to my good journalling friends so we should get some reliable and excellent artists in the swap :-)

damilola 11/30/2010 #

Must it be a Moleskin journal or any kinda brand as long as it meets the requirements ???

leilx 11/30/2010 #

this sounds really fun but I never want to give up my journal permanently...so I have a hard time participating. Even if I get someone elses!

kaikamahine 11/30/2010 #

@damilol No, you don't have to get a Moleskine, you can make one :) @leilx too bad, but I understand

I'm sorry, @kaikamahine , but I'm the sort of person who needs numbers. We have good clear numbers of 100 days and 100 pages (50 leaves), but I need one more: would it be too much trouble for you to spell out the minimum dimensions of this journal (either inches or centimeters)? I'm not planning to use a Moleskine and I don't know the dimensions of the "Large Sketch Notebook." Thanks in advance!

Fi

ukstash 11/30/2010 #

I have a moleskine sketchbook, the dimentions listed are 13 x 21 cm or 5 x 8 1/4 " Hope that helps.

MichelleK 11/30/2010 #

Oh! I would love to do this. I hope I can hit 20 swaps in time to join!

caseyjade88 12/ 2/2010 #

I fear that I won't hit 20 swaps in time to join this, but I'm watching it for now in hopes that I do!

angel1985 12/ 2/2010 #

If we are really eager, can we start journalling now? Or would that not be counted in the hundred days of journalling?

secretterrabite 12/ 3/2010 #

The point is to document your days from 1st January, it's a record of the first 100 days of the year

kaikamahine 12/ 5/2010 #

@angel1985 just as secretterrabite said :) however, if you would like to start now, maybe you can make a small journal for yourself until then :) Moleskine Volant journals are great for that! :D

andannabegins 12/ 6/2010 #

i HAVE to do this now- my birthday is the 18th :) i've been dying for an excuse to get back into jounaling...i do have a question... how censored should we be? do we send a journal we'd keep for ourselves or should it be "toned down"?

secretterrabite 12/ 7/2010 #

My opinion is that you should be free to journal however you wish and say whatever you wish, but if you think you may be putting something in that may offend, I would suggest waiting until partners are assigned on 28th Dec and messaging your partner to check with them. Tell them what you think may offend and get their opinion. If you got me I would say I'd rather you be honest, warts and all (does that translate? LOL)

kaikamahine 12/ 7/2010 #

LOL@secretterrabite! Well said mate, well said!

handsdown46785 12/12/2010 #

very cool swap...I won't be joining this time with too many other things going on and not quite enough type 3 swaps, hopefully if it's done again in the future, I'll be able to join then. :) cheers!

andannabegins 12/15/2010 #

i'm very sorry but i'm going to have to drop from this swap, as i'm not certain i'll have the time i'd like to have to devote to this swap.

kaikamahine 12/15/2010 #

@handsdowns46785 if all goes well, maybe we can do another one in the summer time. @andannabegins no worries, and thanks for being honest, as some people will stay in swaps they have no time for and flake....take care

secretterrabite 12/17/2010 #

I'm going to not do this either. I need to concentrate on making stuff to publish. New years resolutions and all that. If I want art to be my income I need to devote 100% of my time. Good luck with the swap x

kaikamahine 12/17/2010 #

@secretterabite :( but I understand. I wonder if I should keep this swap going?

secretterrabite 12/18/2010 #

Of course! There are still people in it, so they are interested, as long as you still want to do it yourself.

MichelleK 12/19/2010 #

gosh I am so interested please don't can it. Im only just learning to journal techniques but I love it !

kgeslab 04/13/2011 #

Journal on its way to Australia! It's like sending my baby!!!

MichelleK 04/13/2011 #

Oh for a minute there I thought it may have been to me ... was going to squeal... Im keeping my fingers crossed for a flake free swap. Im just decorating my covers. Should have it sent by monday.

ukstash 04/14/2011 #

I was waiting for our host to confirm who is ready to send and who has vanished. I thought we might have to change partners, so I would't send just yet. My journal is ready by the way. I am bait confused.

ukstash 04/14/2011 #

Don't you just hate auto correct. It should have said " I am a bit confused"

MichelleK 04/17/2011 #

Am waiting for the go ahead to as my journalis ready to send.

MichelleK 04/26/2011 #

So whats up with the sending here? When can we go pop it in the mail?

kaikamahine 04/28/2011 #

So sorry ladies, I had to be out of town for something urgent. No fun... :( Go ahead and send your journals! I am so happy everyone is still here and ready to send. No flakers!!! Ahhhh! I'm so proud of us!!! :) Thanks again girls, you are were so awesome! I hope everyone LOVES their journals!!!

kgeslab 05/19/2011 #

I wish kaikamahine had sent mine! I was flaked - sent a journal for $12 to Australia and then got nothing in return.

nalfavi 05/27/2011 #

Was flaked on as well. Pretty disappointed as it was such a in-depth swap. At least my partner enjoyed what she received.
