Description:

You will have one (1) partner and you will send one (1) handmade greeting card to that partner.

Any theme is fine and you can paper piece/collage, stamp, hand draw a design or using any artist techniques you feel comfortable with in creating your greeting card. No Sticker Slapping! Let's make NICE cards that you would like to receive and put some thought into it. I recommend that you take the time to read your partner's profile and make a card with an image or design based on their preferences.

You may write a note in your card to your assigned partner. In other words, don't send a blank card but you may send extras (read their profile to see what they like) to get a heart for your profile.

This is USA only, but open to all NEWBIES to help you with your ratings.

*Newbies-you do need to have a completed profile with your preferences to participate in this swap, so please take the time to do this before the swap deadline or I'll have to remove you before the partners are assigned.

Just a reminder-I will report you to ADMIN. if you don't complete your swap and I will ANGEL anyone who gets a flaker.

Get busy and make a special greeting card for someone!

Sure-anyone is welcome to join this swap. Just be aware that some swappers may not be rated yet, but let's not hold that against them. We were all newbies once.

i want to try making cards but i am scared of my abilities im new to this sorta thing i dont want anyone to feel as if they are getting jipped cuz the cards arent up to standards or somethin...that said can i still join

I have never been in a swap before, although I have been making cards for 25 years. I think this will be fun. I don't however understand the rating.

Hi Ladies- This is considered a NEWBIE swap-so I want to be clear for those who are 5.00 rated. We are trying to help our newbies with getting their ratings, so be kind when it comes to there creative skills. A little encouragement and practice is what I am trying to offer.

chiabia-if you don't feel comfortable with your cardmaking skills, this may not be the swap for you-but you are welcome to stay in. . .just take your time on your cards and do your best. No sticker slapping though.

What are hearts and how do I give them?

If someone sends you an extra special swap package that far exceeds the swap requirements, you can give that person a heart. The option to give someone a heart only appears when you give them the highest rating ("5 - I got my stuff and it met posted swap requirements"). Under this rating option a check box will appear that you can mark if you want to give a heart. You do not have to give anyone a heart just because you gave them the highest rating. We suggest that you reserve giving hearts to those swappers who you think deserve even more than the highest rating (more than 5 points). The number of hearts a person has collected will be shown on their profile page next to their average rating. Lots of hearts indicates a very special swapper!

Swap coordinators should never dictate when hearts should be given. Also, swap participants should never demand that they receive a heart for their sent swap items. Hearts are only to be given at the discretion of each swap recipient.

What is a 'swap angel' or 'angeling'?

An 'angel' is someone who volunteers to send swap items to a person in a swap who did not receive anything from their assigned partner. Being an angel is a very nice thing to do, but Swap-bot does not officially support the practice. Many people get very frustrated when they are 'flaked' on in swaps and angels fix that, but they can also be the target for dishonest users who are trying to get free items in the mail. It is up to each individual to decide whether they would like to volunteer as an angel and it is certainly never required.

Okay Swappers- We are ready to start swapping! I have banned two newbies that did not complete their profiles from the swap, so I hope all the other newbies do follow through so they don't receive a negative rating.

I'm glad we have many experienced swappers who are participating to help some of the newbies! Give yourselves a pat on the back!

Anyone who receives a flake, CONTACT ME BY SENDING ME A MESSAGE WITHIN TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SEND DEADLINE. Rate your partner with a 1 and then I will angel you and report them to ADMIN.

Get your card ready to send to your partner, remember we only have about two weeks to make them and send them.

I just went and found my partner this is my second swap I am very excited. I just updated my profile after reading my e-mail message and comments. Good thing I didn't realize that they're was more to write about myself. I am glad I didnt get taken out of swap :o). God Bless have fun all.

Thanks Swappers for helping a very busy hostess and grad student here in the discussion by answering many of the newbie questions.

Hi All- We had a few late senders in this swap. I'm hoping that those who sent after the deadline contacted their partners to let them know-or just forgot to mark their swap as sent until a few days later. It happens.

Keep me posted if anyone has any problems with their swap partner.
