Description:

Let's do 1 favorite spam recipe and 1 bonus recipe (your choice). Believe it or not, spam is real big in Hawaii and all the fancy hotels make spam based dishes to serve.

Make 2 scrap book worthy full 8.5 x 11 pages or index/recipe cards and share your spam recipe. Let the bonus recipe be your choice surprise!

We'll revive the kitchen arts in our own homes! (Even if I am just in the kitchen scrap booking instead of cooking!)

2 recipes to 1 partner. You have creative freedom! Have fun! Don't forget to add the LOVE!

This swap is in honor of my mother-in-law whose motto is "You'll eat spam and you'll like it" philosophy. She was right when she said that! I DID like it! (Much to my own consternation!)

International Swap. Newbies Welcome! Fill out your profiles so we can acquaint ourselves with you!

This is a continuation of the recipe scrap book pages swaps I am pleased to hostess for you!

My teenage son calls spam- Stuff Posing As Meat. The county fair hosts a spam recipe cookoff with big money prizes every year. Maybe one of us will get a 1st price worthy recipe! I couldn't resist starting this swap! You know you have an old spam recipe in the greasy dungeon of your cookbook! Break it out! Wipe it off! Write it out! Come play with us!

Lol, had to laugh at this one! Having lived half my life in hawaii and raising my daughter there, we know spam. Unfortunately i do not eat it, but it used to be in our hurricane kit, now an earthquake kit. have fun with this one! of course when i think of spam, the first recipe that somes to mind is "musubi".

I lived in Hawaii, too, and grew up eating Spam. Awesome idea! The only thing I ever do with it is fry it and eat it with sticky white rice, or throw it into soups. If I can come up with a recipe I'll join for sure!

myrrhmaid 10/ 8/2007 #

Oh do come join gals!! I'd LOVE to have some authentic, tried and true recipes. It can be just for fun too! That's why I did it!

OK, I'm in! I can't resist anything having to do with Spam!!! aloha, Alisa

myrrhmaid 10/13/2007 #

Aloha Alisa! Whoo hoo! It may just end up being you and me but that's o.k.! This is spam's 70th anniversary! I can hardly wait to see what you cook up!

i grew up eating spam as a kid but my hubby says its like dog food. now i am grown up i have to wonder at this amazingly salty and fatty stuff called spam!

myrrhmaid 10/19/2007 #

I know tkoufus! I grew up eating deviled ham which I recently found out was a ration from WWI. WEIRD!

I mean c'mon, what's a recipe scrapbook without at least 1 spam recipe!? We don't have to admit to actually eating it! I have found it works best with potatoes or beans-something that does well with lots of salty flavor added. Come join us!

Question: Is a scrapbook page 10x10? What size is a recipe card? Mahalo!

myrrhmaid 10/26/2007 #

Alisa, I am making 8.5 x 11 pages to fit inside of plastic page protectors so I can just slip everything into a binder (eventually!) to make a custom scrap book. I have given everyone the creative freedom because folks seem to like that best. Index cards fit into the page protectors too. So, no, to answer your question-these are not 10 x 10 pages.

Alisa 10/26/2007 #

Thanks myrrhmaid! I'm not a scrapbooker, so I wasn't sure about the size. Wait'll you get your recipe- I hope you'll try it!

And the second recipe, does it also have to be on a scrapbook page or the same page???

myrrhmaid 10/26/2007 #

I'm putting my flickr link in my profile so go look if anybody wants to see some of the pages that have been done previously. Have 2 separate recipes on 2 pages. The idea is to slip these into PLASTIC PAGE PROTECTORS AND GET A BINDER TO FASHION A HOMEMADE RECIPE SCRAPBOOK. i'M NEW TO ALL THIS TOO SO GO SEE MY FLICKR PAGE AND YOU CAN SEE HOW BASIC, THO CHARMING THEY CAN BE. ooops, didn't mean to yell!
