Description:

I'm loving the matchbox swaps, and I also love making tiny books, so here's a swap to combine two of my favorite things!

We will have one partner each and will decorate a small (32 match size) matchbox and make a tiny handmade book to fit inside it. You can check your partner's profiles for themes, or make them as you desire.

The book can be made with any bookmaking technique you like, but must have a cover and at least 8 pages. It can be blank, like a mini journal, with some decoration on the pages, or can be a story following the decoration theme.

One idea is to make an accordion-pleat book using the bottom of the box as the back cover and a cover with a loop or button on it to pull it out of the box for reading, the outer part of the box being a slipcase.

I'm putting plenty of time between sign up and mailing date (over a month) so you can start creating your book and apply a personal theme once you get your partner.

It's INTERNATIONAL, so make the best use of your time to allow for international mail if you get a partner overseas.

No no-sends or ratings under 4.8 are allowed. Newbies must write me before the sign-up deadline to be considered, anyone who signs up just before the deadline with a lower rating or no rating without writing me well ahead will be dropped.

Communication within the swap comments and with your partners is highly recommended for all participants, it makes for a much more pleasant swap environment when we all treat each other with care!

would you consider doing a us only or us/can version of this swap?

I had thought of it, but the matchboxes are so small and lightweight, I figured the postage cost would be manageable. You can host one if you like, it's easy to host if you have time to check in on the swap from time to time to answer questions and such.

If you want to try it, you can copy my description if you like to help you get it going.

If not, I may do it again in a month or so, but I can't guarantee it. Cyn

Hey, if you like this swap.... check out this other one HERE.... I figured since she was advertising her swap on my swap, I could do the same.... Even though I had created the swap first, the stock photo I used, actually ended up being one of hers (google found it)..... I love great swappers that think alike!!!!
Happy Swapping!!!!

Partners are assigned! I banned one newbie who had not written to ask to be let in, and everyone else has a 5.0 rating but one who is 4.9901, so we should be able to count on a good swap experience!

Remember: Communicate, communicate, communicate!!!

Swap on! Cyn

KimyKate, I was going to post yours here for some who had asked for a US only swap, then you changed yours, but two great minds with but a single thought, eh?

I'm glad I didn't offend by posting this one, I wanted to do a matchbox book swap that wasn't children's book related.

I received a matchbox book in the mail today--so soon!! Very, very nice, with The Raven from Edgar Allen Poe in an accordion pleat book. Thanks Lisa!
