Description:

If your rating is not a perfect five you need to PM me as you sign up to explain your situation. If you don't, you will be dropped from the swap, I don't care how silly I think the other person's reason was. I will not go searching for info. If there is any question in my mind, you will be dropped, no explanation. But you are free to start a similar swap if you'd like, just use your own wording. You don't need to ask me for permission. It is not a personal comment about you if I drop you, I just don't feel like searching for fifteen lost swap-botters who didn't follow through. Or even one.

No newbies... sorry. Too many past flakes in public swaps. You must have at least five rated 'time intensive craft swaps' to join.(type 3) CRAFT swaps. DO NOT sign up if you do not meet these requirements.

Part of the swap requirement is sending by the send date. If you do not do this, you will be rated down. If you have a history of not doing this in the past, you will be dropped. Again, not personal. Please consider this when signing up. I am putting all the crappy stuff first so no one can say they didn't see it. :)

Sounds tough? Sounds obnoxious? Yes. Please start your own swap if you'd rather...just use your own wording... lots of people will join, and I really don't mind at all!

So...on to the fun stuff... for this swap, you must get one or more pawprints from a family pet, to use on an ATC... please be sure to use something that will not harm the pet, AND use a pet that will not be harmed! (and... will not harm you!)...Google for ideas. One site lists these:

"Water Color
•Water color paints such as those used by artists can be used for your dog's paw print. Use a small amount of the pigment and mix it with enough water that the result is the same consistency as water.
Non-Toxic Acrylic Paint
•Non-toxic acrylic paint can be found in a craft store. Use it straight from the bottle or add some water to change the intensity of the color.
Milk Paint
•Milk paint is made from organic products that comes as a powder and needs to be mixed with water before use.
Finger Paint
•Finger and body paints can be found in toy stores and used straight from the container.
Vegetable Dye
•A variety of vegetable dyes can be made at home and used as paint. For example, the water used to cook beets is an intense purple color. Black tea steeped for 10 minutes will give you a beige color.

Allow vegetable dyes to cool thoroughly before use to avoid burns. Dyes are more color-fast than most paints, protect your work area from permanent stains or use them outside.

Safe Paints to Use for Making a Dog Paw Print " ... please do research for more ideas. Wash your pet's paws off gently but well afterwards.

Now... use that pawprint to create an ATC for your partner. (Must be 2 1/2x 3 1/2") The ATC should be more than JUST the print on a card, and should be on heavyweight quality paper. If you have never made an ATC before, please research before you join. These are pieces of art, and participants will expect to get back something as time intensive as what they have sent out. A print on paper is not enough, although the rest is up to each artist.

Have fun, and good luck. NO flaking.

LOL! I was wondering how long it would take someone to do one!!

Bahaha. Love this!

Just want to clarify...you say not to send just a print on paper. Can it be covered in multiple prints (thinking of the bunny link I posted), or do you want another medium incorporated into the card?

hollycm6 02/21/2011 #

Hmmm. Multiple prints, or even the single print is acceptable on one side IF you do something that is creative on the other side as well... I can see how you might not want to ruin the print with other mediums, you might really like its simplicity. Then on the back write your info small along the edge, or incorporate it into the design, and do a little something special... I am just thinking a print with nothing else altering the card might lose its 'artist' element a bit. :)

I really love this idea, Holly. Unfortunately, I won't be able to participate right now. My furbabies are currently recovering from minor skin wounds resulting from a fight. They will be ok, but I would rather not stress them any more than need be.

I hope everyone has fun!

Oh, sad!!! :(

Oh my gosh... my pets prints came out so bad!! And it really stressed them out (it was both sad AND funny!)
