Yarn lovers untie!! I need to do some swapping on the cheap...how about a stash yarn swap?

Send 1 person 1 skein of sock yarn (fingering weight, [3]) from your personal stash that you would enjoy receiving.

Quantity: Minimum of 375 yards (prefer at least 450 yards). Enough to make a pair of socks using a standard pattern with 7" cuff. Combination of complimentary fibers is acceptable.

Value - Sock yarns can be pricy so this one is a little higher. Value between $10 and $30, send something to delight your partner.

Natural Fiber types: wool, wool blend, alpaca, cotton, silk and blends of any natural fiber.

Acrylic blends only if the acrylic accounts for less than 50% and the natural fiber is at least 50% of the makup.

Type from craft store allowed - Yes. If it's a good quality you would enjoy receiving yourself. This isn't a de-stashing exchange the intent is to surprise and delight your partner. Use good judgement.

Swap: To bless your partner with something you love. De-stash: To eliminate what you dislike.

No ratings of 3 or less in last 6 months. Considering the value of sock yarns - only established swappers allowed in this swap.

I will angel if necessary - but I will also be very careful in checking profiles before matching partners.

Regional to North America, US & Canada. PM me if you want to do an International swap with me.

Join the CRKnits group if your are interested in another stash yarn swap

Sending group swaps no later than the send-by date is considered a swap requirement. In the rare circumstance that you must send late, please contact your partner AND the swap host no later than the send date. Thank you for your consideration!

I see contradictions here - stash yarn swap/from your personal stash/isn't a de-stashing exchange send 1 skein/enough to make a pair of socks (this takes 2) could you clarify, please?

gypsyinthecastle 04/20/2011 #

Sure. Destashing means to me to eliminate or get rid of things you are no longer interested in using.

Stash swapping means to me that I am going to send my partner a valued item that I bought with intent of making something really nice for myself or someone I love.

Skein size: It depends on the brand wether you will need one or two skeins for a pair of socks. Many of the brands I buy are enough for a full pair unless I am knitting for very large feet. If you have any doubt about the quantity - you should send 2.

For example: 'http://www.simplysockyarn.com/servlet/Detail?no=4446 states that the yarn is 375 yards and is enough for a pair of socks (beautiful too...)

'http://www.simplysockyarn.com/servlet/Detail?no=2591 is 450 yards

I'm not having luck finding a sample that would need two balls... I'll change the requirement to a minimum quantity of 375 yards.

Good question.

$10 - $30 is a very large price range. I do not mind spending $30 on sock yarn, but reciving $10 sock yarn that is mostly acrylic would not delight me, so i will not be participating.

amikins 05/19/2011 #

that sounded more angry than it was intended to. I just meant to point out the wide price range, because otherwise i would be participating as i love sock yarn.

You make a good point and you are correct about the wide price range. The skein I am planning to send was originally around $20 but I've also found some very nice sock yarns for $8 a skein (midwest).

I am sorry you won't participate this round, hope you'll join again in the future.
