I created a Harriet the Spy paper doll for a recent swap and it was a lot of fun. Happy Honey Bee suggested a paper doll swap for the group so here goes - btw this is my first swap as host. Be kind! Create for your partner a paper doll (and clothes & accessories) based on one of your favorite book characters. Create items that relate to the character - Paddington's raincoat; Alice's signature blue dress and red striped stockings; Laura's flannel nightgown and her doll, Charlotte! Send the finished doll to your partner and include a letter or note explaining why you chose the character and how you chose the items to include in their wardrobe. Don't limit yourself to girl characters - animals and toys count too! Don't trust your drawing skills? Trace an existing doll shape and embeillish it any way you like - glue on a cut out face, garments, hair style from a magazine, catalog or book of illustrations. Or trace an existing page of paper dolls and clothes and decorate your tracings to suit your chosen character. Here is a link to a blog post that I shared with Honey Bee - maybe it will inspire you. http://madknews.blogspot.com/2007/06/say-its-only-paper-doll.html Be sure use your imagination, do your best work and above all, to have fun! |
