Description:

You will make one standard size fabric ATC (2.5" x 3.5") for your partner. Embellishment and materials are your choice, however you must include at least 1 loom flower and your ATC base should be fabric stiffened with interfacing or a card stock backing. See our tips for creating a fabric ATC.

Be sure to include a note with the name of this swap and your Swap-bot ID so that your partner can rate you when they receive your art.

Other embellishments welcome!! For example: embroidery, quilting, sewing, beads, findings, paint or ink - anything you can apply to your fabric.

Because the theme and embellishments are senders choice you may start making your ATC immediately (and have up to 6 weeks to complete it) or wait until partners are assigned and review your partners profile to personalize your ATC for them.

Newbies welcome. No unexplained 3 or 1 ratings. Please contact me first. Remember your obligations if you join in.

I only wish that you, Metanoia, would have joined the swap that I am already running and shared ideas and techniques there. It has taken me a full year to get people engaged in creating Fabric ATCs here on swap-bot.

This is a pretty technique-specific swap, @lepapillonvert so I don't think it overlaps too much with your series of swaps. Besides, the more fabric ATC swaps, the better!! There's nothing wrong with variety :)

I will watch your swap for now and if I have time I will joi it. A seperate swap on techinques is different and probably a good idea. Good Luck with it. Cheers, Le Papillon Vert

Hi lepapillonvert. I'm glad to hear from you and that you've changed your mind. I'm hoping to join in your next swap too so I hope we can compliment each other and both end up with heaps of participants!!

I am watching this swap and have tried to make the loom flower before I commit. I am good until I have to finish it off. I have watched the links but still can't seem to finish it. It keeps falling apart. How many times am I supposed to go around to finish the flower is one question. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks. Sue ( Also, how do you get that nice "knot" in the center as it is shown on the swap description?)

Metanoia 04/ 9/2011 #

Hi Sue, For the blue one in the pic, the petals are wrapped around each spoke 3 times, then the centre is tied off only once. I found you do need to make sure you get around every loop so there are no stray petals and make sure everything is nice and tight. Of all the tutorials in the extra link I provided, I think this one is the best and might help you with the tying off: http://www.craftastical.com/2010/03/tutorial-loom-flowers-without-loom.html

Thank you Metanoia. I will try that link. Sue

How did you go Sue?? If that still didn't help you let me know and I'll see if I can create a little video or something of the tying off tonight. I think my camera takes video, but it might be tricky without a tripod. Let me know if you have any other suggestions for what might help you get one made.

I am soo sad, I won't be able to join. I haven't been able to try the loom yet (haven't even made it) and the send date is my daughters graduation date from College. I'll be away and I don't want to be rushing at the last minute and not be able to do it. Thanks for the links, I'm going to figure it out eventually (I'm terrible at following directions) and use it in another swap. Have fun! I'd love to see what everyone made.

Metanoia 04/15/2011 #

What a pity yomousey! Please do stop by and show us what you made if you get to try it later on. If there is enough interest over on the website I could always run another swap with this technique again in the future.

The next swaps are up. The technique: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/89046 and a challenge! http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/89050
