Description:

Part of the charm of children's literature is that everything takes place on a smaller scale: thinner, smaller books, and tiny objects featured therein a la The Borrowers (including the characters themselves)!

For this swap, you are invited to decorate one 32-count matchbox in a children's literature theme of your choice.

Tuck inside 6 mini ATCs that correspond to your chosen theme. Make them approximately 1.5 inches by 2.5 inches (matchbox size). Include a brief note that explains your work.

Ideas:

  • a matchbox / mini ATCs that center around a children's lit animal/s, scenery, or setting. (Example: Moomintroll featuring several Moomin stories)

  • a matchbox / mini ATCs that center around a common protagonist. (Example: Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, Little House all feature strong girls who are coming of age.)

  • a matchbox / mini ATCs that feature a common subject / theme such as rags-to-riches, coming-of-age, etc.

Vintage book pages, tiny book images, small brads, lovely scrapbook papers, and small embellishments can decorate your wonderful small works. If the six mini ATCs do not fit into the box because of the embellishments, include them carefully outside of the box.

Please remember to package your swap carefully to prevent damage to your beautiful work.

The picture featured (though not children's lit-themed) is courtesy of jfreeman1443's flickr site. The six ATCs surround her matchbox (the one on the middle-right hand side).

An additional example (again, non-children's-lit) may be found here
