Description:

Doesn't this look like a Nativity scene? Or maybe a trio of angels?

I LOVE the organic images created by the aboriginal artists of Australia! You can check out tons of other examples HERE.

For this swap, make your partner a Christmas ornament in the Australian aboriginal style - YOUR interpretation. (";)

I am thinking perhaps beading, embroidery, patchwork, painting, zentangle, needlefelting, applique, crosstitch, polymer clay, quilling, quilting, papercraft like collage ... any medium, any technique are acceptable as long as your ornament is sturdy enough to last!

Please sign it somewhere, or add a small tag identifying you as the maker.

Open to all YACO members in good standing.

Have fun!

YACO? LOL! sounds like a cat passing a hairball! now wouldn't that make a nice christmas ornament! LOL! This sounds like a GREAT swap and I am so glad you are hosting it!

Makes you think twice about naming something when you use the acronym, doesn't it? lol

I hope the theme doesn't scare people away - it is meant to be fun and not an art competition. (";)

Aboriginal art is so simple and easily transformed into an ornament by using Christmas colours. And while it is very symbolic, it is also abstract - and even I, the least artistically talented doofus I know, can do abstract! So if I can do it, anyone can!

here is a suggestion: get those flat wooden shapes that are precut. paint them one color and then do the dots in designes or you can create scenes on them. For example. get a little girl cut out and either dot it up or make a nativity scene on it like the one above. you could get a tree cutout, wreath etc. use the back of a pencil, chopstick toothpicks for different sized dots. a snowman shape with different shades of white and blue dot snowflakes with silver accents! OK, now im going to the store....!

Now doesn't that sound easy? (";) Thx Sam!
