Description:

Some of you may have joined in previously and I hope will join again. I've been gone due to illness but am returning and ready to start this swap up again!

Because the finished product will be light and mailing costs shouldn't be ridiculous, I'm opening this up to international.

Some blocks may be more difficult than others. If you’re uncertain about your skills and would rather set up a private trade for a given block, I’ll be more than glad to accommodate you.

Feel free to drop in on the block trade at any time. I plan on keeping this going for quite some time in order to get in as many different goddesses and ideas done as possible, so no one should feel that they’ll have an uneven quilt if they miss a few rounds.

Some months we’ll have templates and others we won’t. Some months we’ll have more than one partner and others we won’t (or we might not ever, I’ve not yet decided on that yet).

For any blocks that require a foundation, I will leave it up to the creator/creatrix on how best to approach that method. Edit In other swaps, different fabrics will be encouraged (though not required), but I want to keep this a simple block.

Make sure and put time and effort into this!

This month’s block will be a goddess of your choice. Make sure to include a note with your block so your partner knows who she is and where she's from and any interesting facts you'd like to share!

The finished block will be EDITED 9" which includes a 1/2 inch seam allowance. This will give enough space for a creative canvas for each square.

The Goddess will be an appliqué design on the block.

The goddess can be a full body, a close-up of her face, a profile, etc.

Place the goddess in the center of the block, or as close as possible.

The goddess should be between 5 -7 inches tall. She can be made of felt or fabric.

The background should be a good contrast or compliment to the goddess. Get out your colour wheels!

You can decorate the block itself, if you feel moved, with embroidery or appliqué. Let’s stick to the theme when it comes to decoration.

For these blocks let’s stick to 100% cotton (I will allow felt appliqué) and without bobbles and dangly bits that might come off when getting washed. I’d like this quilt to be useable.

We will definitely be creating other goddesses where you’ll have extra space for imagination.

ADDITION: Put your initials/signature or maker's mark in the square's bottom right corner (don't initial in the seam allowance!) unless you want to sign in fabric marker--I'll leave it up to the sender.

Rules on joining

No 1s within the past three months.

You must have at least 10 mailed/package swaps completed and rated.

I will be reviewing everyone signing up and will remove you from the swap if you don’t meet the rules/criteria.

I usually understand so if you have any issues going on and you want to join please mssg. me and maybe we can work it out.

Sorry...the following is not quite clear to me and I don't want to botch anything:

"The finished block will be EDITED 9" which includes a 1/2 inch seam allowance. "

Are you saying that the finished size will be 9" (so our blocks should be 9 1/2" unfinished)? Or that we should submit a 9" block (which would end up being 8 1/2" when finished in a quilt)?

Oops, sorry. I'm saying the final block size will be 9" (which already includes the 1/2" seam allowance)

I'm reading that as sending a 9" block, which, when seam allowance is taken in the joining, will end up as an 8-1/2" block.
